hmmm hoew can they
it just looks like an old impreza still to me
and they cant veer off that look completley
and they throw away all the investment in production lines and so on
Sp doubt it will be scrapped

i found the article in Auto EXpress August 2006 Edition
Subaru’s controversial aircraft propellor-inspired grille that has appeared on the Subaru Tribeca and the Subaru Impreza will be tossed out the window with the next generation of models. I think it’s safe to say that most of us think the new grille is not exactly the most pleasing design to look at. It’s even been called “The Flying Vagina”.
The upcoming Subaru Impreza to be released in both sedan and hatchback form will feature yet another new corporate grille, which I hope is much more better looking than the current weird grille, though topping the current grille in a beauty contest isn’t exactly the hardest thing in the world to do.

I dont blame them if they do scarp it - its an ugly car... they went wrong with the bug eye (and how), then the blob eye just about made up for it - but we hoped for an improvement after...
Then the latest 06... well... Subaru you crapped out... altho thank god we have Zero Sport to show us just how sexy and gorgeous the 06 potential is... regardez!

I just buying a 3 month old STI and have accepted that fact that Subaru will be changing it soon. I'm upgrading from a 2002 bugeye STI, which they changed 8 months after I brought it. The main reason I got the new shape over the older "blob eye" is the 2.5 engine. Mind you, I quite like the look of the new one now.
I have also got one of the large posters from the Subaru showroom which my son has in his room and looking at it on there, it's looks quite nice.

Not a good looker you'll be better to wait to see it after it's been tidied up by Prodrive IMHO but if your a glutten for punishment click below
https://www.scoobynet.com/new-2008-model-t539018.html
Comparing 05-06 sales they had a decline of 50% at this rate, if they stop making them now there will be enough built and bits to keep this model going till 2008 anyway
From what I heard the fate of the Impreza would be decided after the new model came out. The poor sales during this slump by seems to have sealed it's fate. IMHO

There's a rumour going about that Subaru are reverting to the MY00 model design to improve sales and to recoup some credability

There is also a rumour that Subaru will produce a 370BHP 500lbft diesel impreza based on the legacy H6 version with Cosworth heads especially developed to accept diesel ancilliaries for fitting to the H6 engine. It will be released next month and will undercut the current Impreza prices at £21000 all in.
