the hybrid one does yes, more expensive kits remove the front bumper beam so that it sits much higher, something which i am going to try to do over the winter as im not happy about it sitting so low.

By bumper beam, you mean the grey bit behind the license plate?

The FMIC on this 03 STi does not sit below the spoiler and I have photos of others that don't either.
This is a Hybrid supplied and fitted by me.

Must admit that was initially the only thing that put me off one of the ones you supply Harvey. The one fitted to Damian (Spen555) appears to sit quite low and is visible. Ignore my ignorance but does it have anything to do with it being a JDM rather than UK spec car? Would perhaps the splitter I have fitted to my car give it a cleaner edge?

Might be best catching up with you on Sunday................

its either than or the sti bumper sits lower than the wrx one on mine....i did have a splitter (scott lowe) on my car but i have since smashed it off and that covered the fmic nicely. I will be removing the intercooler though over the winter and finding a better solution as i have since lowered the car on coilovers for track use so the IC sits around 3" off the ground maximum at the moment!!!

As I have already explained in some detail to Gaz, the intercooler fitted for Damian was the first New Age intercooler of this type that we did and Damian volunteered to be the guinea pig. It was on that basis that the work was carried out.
Obviously this was a learning curve for us and I have provided and will post again photographs of a subsequent installation.
I am not aware that Damian is unhappy with his installation but I am seeing him again on Sunday and I am quite happy to look at it again if he so wishes.

Cheers Harvey. I don't think Damian has any issues with his installation and has always suggested he is more than happy with the results.

I was just a little worried that, cosmetics aside, i could knock it on ramps etc (especially as I'm running a slightly lower ride height on the AST suspension) if it was exposed slightly. The more I see of the one above the more I want to buy the one you have for sale (if it remains unsold) but have no idea when I could get to Andy for a further remap.

Can't help thinking it would look nice and stealth like sprayed black to match the car................

Will catch up with you Sunday.

Thanks again.

Harvey, is it possible to remove the grey bit from the bumper, behind the license plate and locate it even higher, then use say an evo-style license plate?

Like Johan's in these pics:

mmmm thats the look. Similar to my car as well so gives me some idea. Is it possible to spray them up at all so they are a little less in the face?

Assume you could still keep the WR1 grill on there as well to offer some protection to the core?

Rob my intercooler only drops as low as your front splitter.

As my intercooler is fitted there is some showing below the bumper but that is receiving air, if you move it up you are losing the surface area that is able to cool the temperatures. At the end of the day it's a trade off between looks vs bhp and I know what I prefer

Incidently I have ordered a splitter due next week. I don't expect it to last long though with the hills around where we live Rob. Incidently I have yet to catch my intercooler on anything.

As to wthether I am happy with my intercooler? Well yes, it has come into it's own over the summer months keeping the throttle body temp at or below ambient on cruise. I did Croft as a trackday and it tended to keep the throttle body temp at ~35deg with 20deg ambient which is pretty good I think seen as the car is on track on boost most of the time. The last track day at Croft I lost my throttle body temp reading as the temps with the TMIC melted the probe!

p.s. See you Sunday.

Damian.

Like Johan's in these pics:

I just pulled my number plate off and re-stuck it slightly higher up. It was pointless moving higher than were the intercooler is not showing so only needed moving about 10mm. It all counts though

APS for me.

Fits like a glove. (that you had to cut up, that is )

Nice blurry one, but you get the idea of the size and the new bumper bar.

I doubt it Gaz but what I do know is I am tired of going through the hoop with you. I have lost count of the e-mails. I don't mind trying to help people and I am patient and dedicated in doing that, but I have answered the same questions on a number of points over and over again. I don't know if you read what I send you. I do this in my own time, not Scottish Parliament time or anybody elses.

The content of your e-mails are private so I will leave it at that.
You have doubts about the intercooler I am offering you and I see you are now posting about exhausts which I though we had sorted out in a financially beneficial manner to you. I havn't got any more time to spend on this so I think you should fit the APS and an Evo number plate if that is what you want.
Good bye.

Damain / Rob : See you guys Sunday.
