Hi everyone. Just bought a 96(early)turbo scooby estate off ebay. Been fine for a few days but now i'm getting starting problems and misfiring. Looked at the coil packs on the drivers side and the wiring looks melted and so does the wiring to the MAF sensor.Ordered some secondhand coil packs so i'm waiting for them now.
Could the reason the wiring is getting too hot be a bad earthing problem?
Seems to be very hit n miss wether it starts ok,sometimes it does!?! Doesnt matter if its hot or cold.Seems to misfire worse at low revs but does feel like its holding back higher up the rev range. Help needed please .dont want the new coil pack wires to melt too plus would but earthing cause these wires to melt?
PS The guy i bought it off said it hadnt been used for 18 months !!!!

why buy 2nd hand coil packs???
they have a life expectancy and you'll be replacing them again before you know it.
if you want peace of mind and reliability, get it checked out and buy new parts for it.
thats what i would do / have done...
