Depends what alarm you have as with mine the alarm doesn't activate after its finished so have to wait around for it to finish then activate the alarm.
I think some clifford systems have them intergrated so once finished the alarm will activate.
If you still want to get one HKS, Blitz, Greddy and Apexi all do them but for prices its best to shop around.
To fit is fairly simple because you can buy a wiring harness that plugs into the standard impreza harness.

I would buy an alarm that already has a timer in built so that you don't have to worry about leaving the car and finding the alarm hasn't activated.
But if you don't it doesn't matter what way round you get them fitted

Had my Clifford fitted after turbo timer was fitted, only snag is occasionally the alarm does not pick up the transition between normal ignition and when the turbo timer comes in. The result of this is that the car does not automatically unlock, the number of times it happens all I do is knock the timer down, exit then put the alarm on. As I say it is only occasional so not a real problem to me
