Default turbo back exhaust????

Hi guys,

I've got a 2003 wrx wagon!

It's got an apexi induction kit, and 5" back box! I'm looking at buying a turbo back exhaust. Got a larger intercooler on the way.

Do you recommend this, any problems i could encounter?

Ones i've looked at so far include the downpipe, centre section and back box is this everything i will need?

Cheers

You'll need a remap if you want to benefit fully from the mods. Andy F measured gains after a full exhaust change and got something in the order of a 5bhp and lbs ft increase prior to the remap as the ECU was keeping the car within normal parameters if I recall correctly.

I'd also loose the induction kit.

do the up-pipe when your at it, fit a walbro 255 fuel pump, sard regulator and a performance panel filter, should see you for about 260bhp, and you motor will run safe, re-map is no use unless your going to change your ecu.

Sorry to disagree johnny but all that isn't really necessary. If you are just having a decat exhaust then you won't need a regulator or pump. Definately get the up pipe done and consider a sports cat downpipe if you are bothered about the mot. A remap will give you much better gains. If you do change the pump and regulator you are more likely to need a remap as the fueling will have altered and will be much richer.

A decat system and remap should see in the region of 270-280 on a 03wrx

cheers guys,

how easy is the up pipe to fit myself, i'm quite happy bout fitting the rest of the exhaust!!

anyone know anywhere in west sussex to get the remap done? Can the standard ecu be remapped to accept the changes, or am I looking at something more expensive??

Tek3 remap, which flashes your current ECU. In the region of £690 for the first remap, but that buys you the license. So subsequent remaps are in the region of £200.

You can replace your ECU, with say GEMS, Motec, Hydra etc, but that will be more than double the above and there are associated problems, although ultimately more control. (+ Anti Lag! )
