Question JUMVEA - URGENT HELP REQUIRED!!!!!

I am going to pick up my import on saturday.

It is a 1995 WRX import with only 36K on the clock. i asked if it had proof of the milage and he said yes. i rang today to confirm the milage was genuine and he said yes and it had a JUMVEA and this is the best thing you can get and proves the milage.

IS THIS TRUE? BECAUSE IT HAS THIS IS IT PROOF THE GARAGE IS A GOOD IMPORTER?

Regards.

Best thing that goes a long way to proving the mileage on a car is a full and comprehensive service history, stamped and printed in invoices, along with any old MOTs etc. Even then you're not guaranteed to be safe from a clocked car.

TBH 36k on a car that's over 10 years old is very much below the standard. Anyways, a low miler car is not guaranteed to be free from faults in itself. I've just bought an Impreza after looking at several, and even if I had the slightest of bad feeling on the car I walked. I always insist on a full history or I don't even bother going to look

Got my w reg uk turbo for £1.5k, did have a blown engine though

Google the company to find out more or do a search on here, or even post the companies name on here. Personally I wouldn't wipe my **** with any certificate as it won't guarantee anything.

Ask to see the auction appraisal sheet from the auction house in Japan. This will confirm the grade and the odometer reading; whatever it says will be correct. Japanese cars (in virtually every case) do not have a completed service book, so ruling out a car without a complete service history will leave you with little choice.

The grade is of far more importance than the odometer reading.....

So if it has a JUMVEA and proof of the mileage from the auction house this is proof that the mileage hasnt been altered?

What grade is good and what is bad?

Very few cars even have the books, irrespective of their grade. Of the few that do most arent filled in because all service records are computerised. Grade4 is good, Grade3.5 can be good...

Please can some one tell me how i can check the mileage is genuine then?

how do i know if it has 36 or 136 on the clock if it was not sold at auction and as it looks no service history the only document it has is the JUMVEA, all this shows is that a reputable jumvea accredited importer/exporter was used.

I am due to pick the car up tomorrow and dont want to go ahead if it is a shed, no ryme intended.

the number plate is M62 FNW, can anyone check using this? HELP

Regards.

A BIMTA check costs under £20; they can onyl check the odometer reading when it was last auctioned though I think.

You will have no way to check the mileage is true.

having done a check for you it appears none of the british car check site recongnise this reg plate. therefore there is no assurance , and you need to be extremely careful, why not just wait for a good un in britain ?

the japanese motoring laws complicate the use of older cars in japan , and hence a lot of imports come over here with low miles , so its not impossible cause the japanese sell em quick and buy new ones

36k or 136k,its more than likely gonna go bang anyway

...but at least you've saved it from a Japanese scrapyard, which in no doubt it was destined,b4 some kind and caring used car importer stepped in and saved it for you...or not?

I just don't don't think 11 year old import cars with little or no traceable background sold by Joe Bloggs Motors ltd make a particularly viable proposition.

You have a problem with that?

Take a drive around any British port, you'll see hundreds of the bluddy unwanted things all lined up and slowly rotting away.

I know about BIMTA, but certain cases have proved that even BIMTA cannot guarrantee the exact mileage.

IMO, You should generally be looking out for its condition. It can have low mileage but be maintained really bad and on the other hand it can have high mileage but be maintained with recorded history!
I would recommend getting it checed from a verified third party garage, and it should save you any suprises for future.

Thumbs up

Thats the thing the car is in mint condition, appart from the few dents in the doors as you would expect at this age. there is no rust anywhere (even the underneath is 99.9% rust free!) except for the black bar that holds the battery in place. my 4 year old Saxo had more dents and a hell of alot more rust. even the interior is mint. thats why i dint want to rule the car out completely.

if its done 136k then all the tell tail signs should be there IE shiney stearing wheel and foot pedals. if its only done 36k then most of it should be prety clean in my eyes. as somone has already said you never no with imports what your getin. dont let imports put you off though ive had mine now for 17 months and only replaced the rad. now that cant be that bad can it.
