The standard TMIC is good for 300bhp - if it's standard I wouldn't bother personally.

No doubt the technical bods will put me right but anything that will keep your engine cooler will be of benefit - stick it on it wont do any harm

The only thing a swap to an STi IC did for my 03 WRX PPP was to lower peak boost point by 200-300 rpm - absolutely nothing else.
However, it is a useful bit of make if you want to start raising power.
Make sure the scoop splitter plate is fitted though.

It won't do any harm fitting it but don't expect anything noticeable

As FMICs are relatively cheap now and their performance surpasses any uprate top mount give serious consideration to a front mount intercooler.
The TMIC is a compromise and even pushing a standard car, you will be surprised by the charge temperatures.
A charge temperature guage is change out of £50 including postage and it may be worth investing in that to see what is really happening and remove any doubt as to what may or may not be the circumstances regards charged air within your engine bay.

I've got a STi TMIC on MY02 WRX running 312bhp/300lbs and its the way to go if your pushing that much power or if you intend on going upto 350-400bhp, anymore than that and you'll need a FMIC.

But dont bother with a FMIC at a lower stage as all you'll be doing is increasing turbo lag.

Alex. What actual induction temperatures are you seeing. Plenty TMIC equipped cars I know of at lower power, say 300 bhp will benefit from a FMIC. With the TMIC, on a run from say 35 mph, foot on the floor in top gear, you are seeing very high temperatures by 120 mph and if you do a second run the temperatures can be frightening.

A well designed FMIC will not add appreciable lag. This seems to be another one of the "Scooby Myths". I have lost count of the FMICs I have fitted and where it involved an FMIC only, ie no turbo change, I cannot remember anyone commenting on increased lag.
You can calculate the extra capacity of air in the system, O/E v FMIC and relate that to the engine air consumption per sec at say 3,500 rpm. It is so small that it can not make much difference.
