I've used Mer for years, really good on red cars but doesn't seem to do much on WR Blue.

Disagree with the above I have used it on many things. I have yet to find any scratches especially on brass and copper which are easy to scratch. Just got 3 litres of the stuff off e-bay so by the end of next year my car will be about an inch wider .

Remeber, Mer is a polish, not a wax or sealant. Polishes are abrasive, constantly eating away at your surface. They should be used to achieve a good smooth surface and then protect it with a wax or sealant. You're not doing yourself any favours by constantly grinding away at your top clearcote layer. When it's gone the paint layer lies exposed to rain, acid, oxidisation etc and will quickly degrade.

naa, the 18"s were realy too big for the car and on full lock they caught the inner arches..

so my MOT man woud not pass the car until i put smaller wheels on the front.

as they were not staying on there i had a set of 17`s with desrtoyed rear tyres...

so just stuck em on the fron to get it thru a MOT but it took 2 weeks to get my 18`s back!

I bought a goody bag of Mer stuff a couple of years back and had no probs with it at all. Really like the shine and the six months after the last polish and winscreen treatment the water still runs of like its been freshly waxed.

Mer used to be the nutts about 10 years ago.
Zymol, Swissol or McGuiars [sp] are much better these days.

I've used them all and am at present getting quite a range of McGuiars.
And am very impressed with it's abilities of the money/availability. It can be found in Halfords or some good deals can be found on ebay.

MER

It has to go on Wet. I leave for about 1 hour before polishing off, making sure the white chalky bits don't get rubbed in as, it marks the paint.

The best use for MER is, 1 capful of Halfords ISOTONIC Car Shampoo, 1 cap of Mer in warm water.

Hose Scooby then, sponge this in, hose again with clean water finally, chamois dry.

If you do this every week, you build up a brilliant layer of nice gloss.

Worth the effort.

Mer - I would rather polish the car with the contents of the parrots cage - stay well clear (has a very high clay content)

go for the blackfire or poorboys range.

I don't use any polish whatsoever, but I do use Mer.
Mer super advanced shampoo. It gives a really good shine.
I don't bother with polish because it seems to take away the paint.
