Default Just got burnt off by an old Civic !!

Isn't it a bugger ! 273bhp 01 Ecutek WRX with Prodrive springs and Whiteline ARB beaten by an old lowered Civic Vtec with a couple of neds in it !!

Ok, it wasn't quite like that. I'm sitting at traffic lights on a major roundabout when said neds pull up at the red light and start revving their motor. I initially decide not to take them on as they're going for the same exit as me and I reckon we'll probably obliterate each other's mirrors on getting to the exit !

So the neds zoom off, I start slowly for 5 secs or so but then have a change of mind and decide to pursue. ..............Not able to keep
up ......Nope ...... .Not good enough handling ? .....Nope.

.............~ No, the problem my car had was having a 30something driver that wasn't willing to follow the neds as they overtook 2 cars that were entering the next roundabout and continuing to perform dangerous moves !!

Damn. Still, I made the young lads happy enough to wave their fist at me as they disappeared with me stuck behind traffic !

Yep, that's what I reckon. And you've no doubt experienced that in Morayshire. Good roads for driving but also good for neds !

I see people like that all the time. I'll be honest and say that I have the odd blast in the GTI 6 (that’s all I got!) like most people, but I'm not that daft about it. When I see people acting dumb it's not them I'm worried about, they deserve everything coming to them, it's more the innocent people they put at risk.

Hey, anybody under 40 is a 30something in my book !!

This Civic was extremely low but it seemed to have been done pretty well.
Was quite quick but I reckon I could have beaten it on a nice twisty b-road, suitably empty. Not willing to risk other folk by doing daft overtaking moves
though !!

Hey Hojkoff, you're 19 and also live in Edinburgh. Don't happen to own an
unfeasably low Civic do you ?

It takes a better man {or woman} to know they would shame these people if they tried than to actually race with them & it's safer after all if you know you have a car that can do the business why would you need to show it to those who obviously know it can too.

Hey gimmi a brake! I may be 19 and own a hatchback but I'm not that bad!

I'm a bit more upmarket with my 306 GTI. If you let me know/remember (which I'm sure won't be a problem at your age ) where you saw it, what colour it was, when and what time I'll try my best to find out a bit more.

Hmmm. never heard of a K20 motor.

What do you know about i Neilo ? When was it made, what technology and, more importantly , what bhp ?

i think the k20 was the engine used in the Civic Type R....so 197bhp, but if it was an old civic then it certainly wouldnt weigh veery much

Ok, googled the Honda K20 engine. Standard engines are either 160bhp or 200bhp (there are several variants, not just the Type R motor).

However, they can apparently be modded up to 240 bhp or so.

Was probably pretty quick !

Well if the guy bothered to drop in a K20 lump then he has also most likely tweeked it as well so wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't 240 or more.

Had one of these trying to race me earlier in the year when I was road testing a 205 gti mi16 with twin webers. Was on the inside lane of a dual carriageway when 3 rough types drove past giving it fingers and laughing. Just shifted down a gear and planted it and zoomed ahead. Was quite amusing the look on their faces when I went past.

Peugeot 306 GTI 6. It's a phase 1 so it's a bit old but I still love it!

I take it the K20 engine is still designed for a front wheel drive car? 240 bhp going to the front is pretty nuts and pointless if you ask me.

NICE! Bet that shifts!

Genics are you from Edinburgh? I saw a UK300 last night (I think) at about 9 or 10 pm at the traffic lights at the junction between Gorgie Road and Balgreen Road, was that you?
