Hi,
Im a newbie on here so i'd like to say hello to all firstly.
I am looking at becoming a wrx owner (just sold my civic type r).
I am going to see a 52 reg, black wrx turbo 4wd, completely standard, fssh, 26k on clock for £7k cash private. I think this is good value
I just want to know what i need to look out for before purchasing?
Also on a long run how many miles can you get to a full tank?
Thanks in advance

250 to 300 miles.
check to see it has prodrive springs so it handles like your type R !
note there is a "search" funcion which might give you more info on what to look for.

Hi all, new on here also.
Just bought an 03 WRX in Mica Black, best fun I've had with my clothes on!!
Regarding the RAC check, had one of these, a full one for a WRX costs £227.00 and includes an HPI check, guy also checks the docs during the inspection.
Given the car you are looking at, it's well worth it.
Oh and a tip, ask the seller face to face, but out of the blue, if they are happy to have a check, then judge their reaction! If they've nothing to hide, they won't hesitate to agree! (don't do it over the phone as it's easy to cover up a suspicious reaction)
Hope that's of some use, now back to having a look around!

First of all, Hello!
Good mileage, I bought my 51 plate 18 months ago with 24k miles and paid £10k cash (private), so £7k seems a good price.
The best I had out of mine (when still standard) was ~350 miles per tank, normally around 280. Now I get around 230 miles per tank.
Check out the gearbox, if it's notchy or grinds going into 2/3/4 gears under hard acceleration, ask for £1.5k off or walk away!!!
TBH the bugeye is a good car, people on here slag of the looks but you don't see too many around (short MY life I guess), they are much rarer than blobeye's. I haven't had any problems with mine apart from the gearbox rebuild (fairly common on the 5-speed box due to manufacturing defects and not restricted to bugeye's).

Hello mate, and welcome to Scoobynet
.
Like the previous posts say get an independant inspection carried out and a HPI check. Yes it costs money to have done but it could save you a packet.
Value wise if all is ok with the motor then 7k is good value.
I've had my 52 plate WRX from brand new and the only problem I've had with it is the battery, which had to be replaced (the standard battery is pretty pants).
MPG I've seen is between 200
(when I've been really spanking it) and 320 to a full tank, oh and my car is standard engine wise.
One last thing, some folks dislike the bugeye here on Scoobynet but don't listen or worry about them they're only jealous of the exclusive club of the 2 year special edition model

£7k does seem a good price! Right colour too ![Wink](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/wink.gif)
I get about 280 before the light comes on in my 04 WRX. Had it 4 months, loving every minute.
Black bugeyes look really good with the black lights and black indicators, really changes the face. I saw one on here a while back.
