pulled by the police, oh car has tinted windows, and they have removed them, had the car 4 years yet no ones pulled us before, hate them at the best of times, i actully feel sick, phoned hubby and hes not happy, but it was either let him take them of or impound the car, f***ing police, the want to catch the murders, rapist, pedophiles, rather than just the motorists.
Thanks for the rant, so stressed want to cry

yes while i had the three kids in the car with me, didnt give me much choice, either do it or i'll inpound the car, plus fixed penalty of 30 pound then the car would have to have them removed, then mot'd again then the car could be used again, some friends are saying that its because i was on my own and i would'nt, could'nt fight back with the kids there.

Sounds you had a raw deal there. If you think you were treated un-fairly then make a complaint.
Tints on the front (forward of the B Pillar) are illegal aren't they? Those rear need to allow a certain %-age of light through, not sure what TBH. It sounds like a waste of time police spending their time pulling you for this.
Why did the law change? Is it to stop you reversing over a child or pulling into someone on a dark Motorway? i.e. safety or was it something else?

i reckon the law changed as over here, drivers are not required to get out of their vehicle when pulled, whereas USA they are told to come out before the copper gets out.
imagine a dark night, some beefed up motor gets pulled, totallt tinted,u dont know what ur walking over too......
not saying its right tho LOL, i love tints..........

he told me that if it was dark and raining that i wouldnt be able to see properly through the fronts, but he did mention that they are doing it so they can see whos driving the car, but steve is going to complain tomorrow, hes not happy, but we are going to get the tint measured for the % and if its found to be legal then they are getting the bill to fit it, as he didnt use the the meter, done it just by looking.

Yet, around here, there's chavs with under car neon's, loud exhausts etc
and the cops don't care.
I was in Ulverston the other day and a copper was sitting in a side road when one of these chavs drove by with neon's. The coppers just sat there. I thought they were illegal.

Erm, i dont think he is allowed to rip them off whether illegal or not.
Nor can he impound the car for it.
Having 3 kids at the side of the road while he was doing this, bang out of line, i would be off to create the biggest shi*storm possible for this ****, go see his superior and have it backed in writing with a letter of complaint.
Do it, i would and have.
you wont always get anywhere, but better not to be walked all over

Hmmm, no meter? Then surely they are skating on thin ice there? How can they tell without a proper meter? Strange.
Will be interesting to see if they are actually too dark when tested properly with the right meter.
And if they are too dark then you got off lightly.
Tints on front windows at night? LOLz0rs to that f00ka!

I despise people who drink brews whilst driving! What is it with you? Can't you simply drink the tea before setting off? Or, are you in so much of a hurry you can't be arsed to finish it before you set off? I make a special point of either slamming on the brakes if I see someone drinking behind me!! Or walking out in front of them if I'm walking. I do the same for the ignorant tossers who are on their mobiles as well. As for taking your tints off love, you should have got his number and reported him to the inspector at his station.

i was with my friend who stupidly had near enough limo black all round the old bill pulled him for his plates at first, then noticed his back tints, they made him wind his fronts up told him he was a naughty boy and to remove them or on the spot or have his car impounded and he stiil got a fine for the plates, personally i think they should worry more about the current situation with public security then some harmless tints (in most cases)

I don't get this 'removing on the spot' business.
Getting tints off is a right ball ache, not just something you can do in a few minutes.
What tools do the cops have with them?

my wife was on the collector road but she stopped on lanchester way smiths wood
i cant believe they can rip off the tints there and then
got all this glue crap on my windows now(whats best to remove it)
im going to the station tomorrow to make a complaint
as i think my wife was stopped coz she was on her own with the kids
and they seen it as a easy pull
granted there was no financial gain in being pulled but they said they would issue a fixed penalty if the windows stayed as they are
ive got the coppers name and number
am thinking im gonna draw a blank at the cop shop
steve

Slightly off-topic, I think smoking should also be banned whilst driving. If you drop a biscuit or spill some coke it's hardly the end of the world, but should you drop a lit cigarette whilst driving the consequences could be much more severe. Yet another example of the UK's ridiculous legal system.

Love the patter, ' want to catch the rapists, murderers and paedophiles '
What about the ' junkies and housebreakers? '
Quality post in which someone mentioned ' pigs ' as well.
Genuinely hope you never have to call for their assistance in a time of need.
Surprised you didn't tell him ' i pay your wages '

Previous post based on very limited knowledge.
Of course people will post on their bad experiences with the police, its not exactly ' cool ' to make others aware of positive situations involving the police.
Do agree the initial circumstances appear a tad harsh IMO.
