Default Things you never knew your cellphone could do

THINGS YOU NEVER KNEW YOUR CELLPHONE COULD DO

There are a few things that can be done in times of grave emergencies.

Your mobile phone can actually be a life saver or an emergency tool for

survival. Check out the things that you can do with it: -

*EMERGENCY*

*I*

* The Emergency Number worldwide for **Mobile** is 112 .* If you find

yourself out of coverage area of your mobile network and there is an

emergency, dial 112 and the mobile will search any existing network to

establish the emergency number for you, and interestingly this number 112

can be dialed even if the keypad is locked. **Try it out.**

*II*

* Subject: Have you locked your keys in the car? Does your car have remote Locking/keys?*

This may come in handy someday. Good reason to own a cell phone:

If you lock your keys in the car and the spare keys are at home, call

someone at home on their cell phone from your cell phone.

Hold your cell phone about a foot from your car door and have the person

at your home press the unlock button, holding it near the mobile phone on

their end. Your car will unlock. Saves someone from having to drive your

keys to you. Distance is no object. You could be hundreds of miles away,

and if you can reach someone who has the other "remote" for your car, you

can unlock the doors (or the boot).

Editor's Note: *It works fine! We tried it out and it unlocked our car over a cell phone!"*

*III*

Subject: Hidden Battery power

Imagine your cell battery is very low, you are expecting an important call

and you don't have a charger. Nokia instrument comes with a reserve

battery. To activate, press the keys *3370# Your cell will restart with

this reserve and the instrument will show a 50% increase in battery. This

reserve will get charged when you charge your cell next time.

AND

*IV*

How to disable a STOLEN mobile phone?

To check your Mobile phone's serial number, key in the following digits on your phone:

* # 0 6 #

A 15 digit code will appear on the screen. This number is unique to your

handset. Write it down and keep it somewhere safe. when your phone get

stolen, you can phone your service provider and give them this code. They

will then be able to block your handset so even if the thief changes the

SIM card, your phone will be totally useless.

You probably won't get your phone back, but at least you know that whoever stole it can't use/sell it either.

If everybody does this, there would be no point in people stealing mobile phones.

Now i have tried the remote central locking one out of curiosity and i cant get it to work, but its all interesting never the less!!

The unlocking the car through the power of the mobile seems considerably preposterous to me.
Having only worked for a mobile phone airtime and service provider from advisor up to middle management for 9 years of my working life, I am probably worst placed to know about such gadgetry however
The other info is pretty good though, but would be even better in the correct forum as per Brun

Won't the unlock one depend upon the frequency?

Wouldn't they both have to run on the same frequency?

Brun:Whatever.

Well it might be a repost to you but to the other 61,440 member who might have not seen it.

So unless you can prove to me all those 61,440 have seen whats a so called repost then I will STFU.

Till then keep silly comments to yourself.

Alot of stress over this, just because its in the wrong place, no need to be stroppy about it!! There is more to life than reading something in the wrong place.

The whole idea of these forums is to inform people and occassionally read something interesting and informative - yeh, i put it in the "wrong forum", so shoot me!

It's about order, organisation and putting things in their correct place... if you can't be 'bothered' to put things in their correct place you are an untidy and messy Chav, with no respect for the magnificent structure of Scoobynet and if you show no respect you will, in turn, receive non.........

DCI........ Not stressed nor stroppy..... but FFS use the right forum you *****.....

People obviously have nothing better to do than be **** about things. YES - Its in the wrong place! Mistake, it happens!

What happened to the comradery that us scooby drivers are known for, it certainly is not reflected here!

Resulting in abuse simply reflects your nature, so get over it and i will just have to accept that i am not as perfect as you!

That is no excuse for poor manners, you are a guest in this virtual online community and are expected to adhere to the rules of the club... REGARDLESS if you own a Subaru or not......

How am i a guest when i have owned over 5 scoobies, and am a 'Regular Member' like you and been a member for coming up to 2 yrs!

You clearly have a problem here in thinking you are better than others. You may be older than me, but that certainly does not give you the right to tell me what i can and cannot do. I would listen to a moderator, but then a moderator would probably deal with this in a more mature and professional matter.

Maybe its me, but accept that mistakes happen. Take your arrogance elsewhere, people dont want it!

Maybe it needs to be closer to the reciever in the car and not by the door then.

I tried it with both my scoob (which seems to have a poor range in terms of how far the key can unlock from.. prob just normal) and also my dads nissan (which has a really good range for unlocking)

Neither worked

If it does work though on scoobs, i would love to know.. could be really handy in a sticky situation.
