Default Need some smart advice please

Hi,

Im thinking of getting a wrx or sti around an 02.

Basically I want to spent about 9-10k on a car, Im going to be doing lots of autobahning and some b type roads. I need something reliable. I love the idea of a turbo and something fast!

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Mark

Yes..... I would also suggest getting either a wrx or sti, probably around an 02 plate for around 9 - 10K..... maybe even a turbo? HTH

you will struggle to get a good STI for that money, perhaps an early blobeye WRX.

Reliable, they are if you keep it away from a dealer, mine went 12 months ago and its never stopped having new engines fitted, the cars only 16 jmonth old too.

But thats the dealers fault, when looked after, they are goos and reliable

Where did you read that, the civic type r forum, or perhas the leon cupra forum lol

they are no worse than any other engine in a standard state of tune when run for sustained periods

blobeyes are the second last model to be released, 52 plate to 55 i believe

if you like sitting on the motorway at 150mhp then a scoob is not for you - a good number of scoobs have failed after long periods of top speed runs ( as in over 130 ) ... many scoobs have also never had a problem

bugeyes never fail, they like to be on the open road as much as possible. this is all because most bugeye owners hide them away due to them being so darn ugly lol

These 'failed' scoobs are they standard STi/WRX or tuned up chav mobiles? I do believe you will find that an 'unfcuked' with scoob is a VERY reliable car (even on high speed long runs)................

Im going to be travelling to and from Germany,Id lke to be able to sit at 130 where safe and also have a blast with the big BMWs when they try and pass me. I dont want to blow my engine just because I had it nailed wide open for a few miles. I understand that most cars will blow or weaken if you just rag them flat out for ten mins.

I just wanted some input on equivilent cars that you as scooby owners may be intrested in.

Thank you

Well, now you mentioned it...... I'm VERY interested in this little beauty....

It's a DD3000 and should easily cope with sitting at the 150 mark for long journeys.....

That it is true they do not like sustained 120mph+ runs - mine went pop and mine was standard, having a remap actually makes it safer as well as putting the highest octane fuel money can buy

Having said that i fitted an STi bottom end - In my opinion STi's are a lot stronger and take more abuse than the standard WRX, because they have uprated internals.

Get an STI

Why do you get so irrate at my comment. This is the internet mate, and as long as people get wound up, i will continue to do so.

The bugeye thing really makes me laugh. If someone says my car is ugly, i laugh, i didnt buy it for its looks, i bought it as its reasonably fast. It really doesnt get to me in the slightest, you may have noticed, sayin the blobeye is ugly comment, i aint really bit lol

Where as bugeye owners, for some reason your all like clockwork toys, wind em up and watch them go pmsl

its pure entertainment, nothing more, nothing less....

anyway, do you get to the TTS meets?

so anyway smart advice . here goes. I have bought an 02 WRX bugeye in Mica Red and its nice !, goes beautifully with little lag , eats a lot of petrol ( 220 miles to £50.oo tank of super unleaded. Extremely reliable apart from the immobiliser which messes up near radio masts and locks you out, outstanding acceleration and grip , tho if its your first scoob it may seem to be a bit twitchy , thats just the car waking you up ready for the monster cornering . I cant say anythings gone wrong with it , neither did it with my 01 sport before it and my partners 96 sport is also still fine. SO all in all , I find it easy to live with the bugeyes and take the fun as it comes , I still smile when I drive it and thats what counts......
