Miles per tank of happy juice?
#4
I get about 200 miles per tank, before the needle is on empty. Normally get £50's worth in then as well.
As for the Clang'n'Ball, reckon I was getting 4mpg trying to keep up with all those pesky P1's!
Jerome.

Ah Mr Jerry-can.. err I mean Jerome..
Yes, I wasnt much better off than you, first time I've really stress'd my P1, was very surprised when I first got it as my MPG was higher than what I used to get on MY00 Turbo.. anyone else experienced better mpg with their P1s??

I'm curious to find out how many miles all you other Scooby drivers get between the time your tank is full and when the "I'm feeling a bit parched" light comes on. Is it on SUL or NUL and what would the average length of journey be? PS I'm not talking about driving like yer granny either

I'm not sure that I want to know what my mpg is - I'm sure that the car comes with a motorised needle in the fuel gauge, judging by the speed it goes round!
I also tend to fill up pretty regularly so that the pain comes in small doses.

"Driving like your granny" (i.e. petrol crisis) mode gets about 315 miles on NUL.
A fill-up usually yields approx 270, but sinks to about 215 if the whole distance has been driven with more vigour.

Just saw 17.8mpg from my last tank of SUL, normally around 15mpg for my std MY00.
Seems to make very little difference whether town driving (4 miles each way to work for a whole tank = 15mpg, a single 178 mile journey = 15.6mpg)
I believe that if I managed to drive without involving the turbo I might get close to the 24mpg I saw during one tank when running the car in (or was it just a dream?).

I have been doing some regular checks since I collected MY00. Generally I am getting about 290 miles between fills, before the warning light comes on, which is calculating at 25 mpg.
My drive to work is 25 miles each way on dual-carriageway/motorway, so I guess this could easily reduce with lots of stop/start and winding the turbo up...

Thank God for that, I thought it was down to my lead wellies for emptying a tank in 210-220 miles Although it did seem to be doing about 280 on a tank before the first service (though this was about 1400 miles done in 5 days whilst driving her home to Ireland from Chester - not in a straight line as you geographers out there will no doubt point out from that mileage) Has anyone noticed if SUL makes any difference to mileage? (I heard it was supposed to)

I've found the same as Alex.
Curiously enough, the first few tanks in the P1 yielded better figures than my '98.
Although it's better when driving normally, when you press on a bit that motorised needle that PeteC refered to seems to cut in.

Josh L,
Yeah, I must admit it, I think because of the extra power and the nature of my journey to work, I dont tend to thrash the car as much as I did the UK turbo.. well not every morning
Usually get about 250 / tank when travelling to & from work... weekends are closer to 200

MY96 UK Series McRae.
22mpg on last tank of SUL. I find that when the needle is on empty I can only get 50 litres of fuel in but I dare not go any lower.
Did pre MY97 cars have a fuel warning light, never seen one?

MY97 Prodrive: no warning light! 50 litre capacity. 270 miles on SUL, normal driving (occasionally giving it some humpty) before fill up. 320 on SUL during the petrol shortage, driving v reservedly. running an SS backbox which did exactly what it said on the tin and gave an extra 20-25 mpg on normal use per tank.

UK MY00 turbo - light goes on just about on 50 litres, which is when I refill, with SUL. I get about 310 - 330 miles, but then most of my journeys are 20 miles each way of bumper to bumper on the motorway at pretty constant 60 mph or less.
Funnily enough I get pretty much that cruising through the roads of Mid Wales (I guess you dont have to slow down much for corners!)
Using NUL we drop to 270 - 290 miles per tankful
On holiday in the Pyrenees - four up and a roof box and booting up the lovely twisty roads we can sink below 100 per tankful (just incase you thought I am a completely sad old git)
I did fit an intercooler splitter, which made I estimate about 5% improvement to both fuel consumption and power
It really does depend A LOT on how you drive - I dont necessarily mean slow - its hard core acceleration that really gulps the juice.
Icidentally, if you do a search on this bbs, you will find lots of other threads on this particular chestnut

Lets see. Well, on a good day, around 220 mile on NUL, on bad, ie; normal day, around 160 - 180 miles.
This is in MY94 WRX Wagon. Still trying to work out if it's a 30, 40 or 50 litre tank, think it's 40, but only ever seem to get a max of about 35 in it.
