You'er lucky!!

Last yeat my insurace was £650pa. I've just received my renewal notice and now they quote £1200pa !!!! I've 7 years NCD. Hate to think what it would be if I didn't have this. This is with Admiral.

They said it was something to do with the car classification going up??

As you may have seen from previous posts, I'm hunting down the lowest price, but having some diffuculty when it comes to providing a Certificat for the imobiliser.

Sti was rerated to be Group 20, up from 17 or 18 depending who you dealt with.

UK car has also been rerated.

Sadly it is down to a wider Scooby ownership trying to fell trees with their cars AND the focus on Subarus as THE getaway/ramraid car making it a target for 'professional' blaggers.

Just like GTis in the late 80's and Cossies in the early 90's.

My insurance with the Halifax went up £25 to £475.

Only mod on the car is a quickshift and I am a 42 year old gimmer with glamorous younger wife!

After reading various blurb on here I expected a hike in the price after year one. It hasn't happened.

Unhappy

I have emailed Rum this morning but heard nothing back yet.
I was hoping he would be on one of these Insurance threads.
With the unfortunate weather we have at the moment I think he might be quite busy ...

Thumbs up

My premium has actually gone down this year since I have shopped around. Last year it was £1053 (Elstree) but this year I have changed to Norwich Union and have been quoted £926. My excess has reduced as well. £350 down to £250.

MY99 UK, 26 yrs, 3yrs NCB. Vale of Glamorgan.

Regards,

James

What group is the UK car rated at these days then Rannoch? Is it 20 too? (Would explain a few things. Like my premium!)

DirectLine have taken a letter from Subaru UK (IM) as proof of the immobiliser (assuming UK car). Give their customer services a call and ask for such a letter, stating your reg number, model of car and make/model of alarm/immob. Mine came by return of post. Can't remember the number, but a Scooby dealer should help.

I tried the immobiliser thing, Insurance Co said yes it's got one - but it's not Thatcham apporoved, so we wont cover you for theft.

Mines an MY98 does that make a difference.

I had the same problem 'proving' the car (MY99) had an imobiliser fitted with various companies. In the end I went through Subaru scheme because I thought they would understand, even they wanted proof!! However, after a lot of phone calls and badgering I managed to get them to accept the standard Scooby item was OK. The whole insurance thing is becoming a big pain in the ****!

Mungo,

Thanks for the advice. I ran DirectLine again, just to clarify and they said that a letter from a Garage would be sufficiant. So, following your advise I phoned IM Customer Services and a very helpful guy took my details and will be sending me a letter in tonights post, with the necessary confirmation etc. Excellent service.

So, all being well, I shold get it sorted at last. This has been a nightmare...
