on my 97 uk car what does the switch do it looks like a Tv on top of the colum

 

I wondered that also and found out it's for the parking light.

 

parking light how do u mean?

 

As above , unlike other cars if you leave your lights turned on in a Scooby and turn off the ignition they will go off , so the switch on top of the steering is to turn on parking lights , and also so you can knock it on when cleaning and flattern your battery
