Default Couple of questions about my sti..

Hi all,

I am new to scooby's, got my 03 uk sti a few weeks ago and have a couple of questions if you could be so kind to answer:

1.- When I rev the engine past 6k revs for longer than a couple of seconds i get this terrible smell from the engine, my mate said it smells like burnt clutch but it's not it's when i rev the engine even standing still - is this something to be worried about?

2.- the intercooler spray dashboard light comes on whenever i accelrate constantly over 3,500 revs then goes off as soon as i let off the gas, is this normal?

3.- Does the 03 uk sti come with a dump valve? I sure as hell cant hear one...

4.- would i need a remap by changing just the backbox?

and finally 5.- I want the car to sound much louder as the standard sti backbox is really really quiet, i have orderd a scorpion backbox for 240 quid will this do the trick for me (i dont want a full system, just want to hear that flat 4 burble)

1) Get it checked out, doesn't sound too good.
2) yes
3) it does, but it's not a woosh type.
4) No.
5) Depends how loud you want it, the Scorpion isn't that loud.

Does it smell like rotten eggs (sulphur), this could be the cat. had probs with them in the past. Yes you should take it back if its under warranty, at least for your peace of mind.

Yes, faulty cats are bad news can cause other probs, should be easily rectified(replaced). You should take it back berfore you change the back box as they might say its your fault with disturbing the cat(s)

The car can rev there so they have no reason to tell you anything like that. If it only went to 5k then fair enough

Well the rev. limit is not a target but these cars are meant to be driven. Maybe not tell them about 6k plus in neutral sitting stationary, but they cannot tell you how to drive your own car. if its meant to rev to approx. 6750 or so then it should do with no adverse probs.
