Do Scoobs handle better than F1 cars?

Pretty awesome.
A 1988 ex Jonathan Palmer race car, but, nevertheless about 650bhp, 0-60 about 3 secs.
Did 8 laps of Mallory Park in it last July, got up to around 165mph down the main straight.
Was first in it in the morning, car warmed up in the pit lane only, so me on cold (carbon) brakes, cold semi-slick hillclimb tyres, and standing water on the track!!!
Carolyn was getting ready to cash in the insurance policies!!
Surprisingly easy to drive (in relative terms as I was probably only driving it to around three tenths - or maybe a bit quicker!!).
On the straights as soon as the front wheels were more or less straight you could nail it flat out in fourth and fifth (oops sorry guys yes I was ordered to stay in fifth!!)
All in all a brilliant day out and the best thing was I won the drive in a competition and it didn't cost me a penny!!

cool,
I could be wrong but don't they have a
1993/94 arrows car now? They also do
pretty cool sounding super car days,
Lambo Diablo, Ferrari 355 F1, Dodge Viper
etc...
And... they do a rally course, the place
where I get my car serviced (intentional
pun for Roger Clarke Motorsport in Desford ;o) did their rally cars.

They have 2x1988 Tyrrells and a 1993 020C/11 Andrea De Cesaris car - but the latter kept catching fire and they did not think it was a good idea for the punters so only use it for a static promo car!!

I recently did the Jonathen Palmer track day which is an excellent day , i would highly reccomend it to anyone .they have four tracks and every one has loads of run off so they encourage you to go as fast as you can .
The day consists of driving ...lotus 7's (superlight) lotus elise , audi TT , audi s3 , honda integra type r , and a Jonathen Palmer formula Audi . in between events they keep you amused with go karting or off roading if you so desire

It gets better - I got to do most of it twice!!
The first time I went the program is set up so you do five laps in a Golf GTI with the instructor driving to show you the circuit.
You then drive a Lotus Elise with the instructor in the passsenger seat. If he is happy with this you get to go on to the next bit (and surprisingly he was after one of the laps I had it powersliding nicely sideways at the hairpin looking out the side window at where we were going )
Next was seven laps in a Formula Ford single seater, a very old and tired one with too little power to get you into trouble (and i've driven one before which helped).
Then ten laps in a Formula Vauxhall Lotus (about 190bhp, wings, slicks - a nice little race car) - but on full wets as it was chucking down with rain. Surprising amount of grip with these on - positive downforce.
Finally, eight laps in the Tyrrell if you survived this far!!
The funny thing was, I was in one of the last groups and just before two of us were due to get in the Tyrrells they both broke.
After waiting around for some time they declared them officially dead for the day (and got the chance to drive a Ferrari 308GTB while I was waiting!!) - but said come back another day and do it again.
Well, it would have been rude to refuse!!
Went back about six weeks later, and they got me to drive the Golf Gti first, then another eight laps in the Vauxhall Lotus, then finally the Tyrrell - as mentioned B4.
It was run by a company called Tangerine, I am not sure if they are still around as someone said recently they had gone bust.
All in all, an excellent day out!

I heard from a fairly reliable source that the F1 cars at Mallory have programmable traction control fitted to avoid major incidents.
The guy who fitted it had to thrash the car to make sure it worked. With his foot on the floor one of the sensors fell off and once the car had finished spinning he drove carefully back to the pits.

There they go again (those Red Letter Days people I mean). One of their 'experiences' is driving a "tank". The vehicle in question is the Abbot. Let me say this to them "IT'S NOT A BLOODY TANK IT'S A SELF-PROPELLED GUN!!" They always seem to think "It's got tracks - it's a tank" thats like thinking "It's got 4-wheel drive - it's a jeep". Would any of you guys call your Scoob a jeep?
Sorry to be pedantic but this always pi55es me off.
