Default Knackered Bonnet Catch

Hi All,
I have a 2003 WRX in which the bonnect catch has decided to stop working.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what to look for, or indeed where i can get a replacement and how much for?

I'm having a bad run with the car at the moment, as some b**tard snapped the spoiler off the back a week ago as well.

Could the two be linked - did whoever took your spoiler have an attempt at the bonnet lock with a screwdriver through the grill?

Mine was doing that for a while and probably will do again. Drops onto first catch but then won't click shut. They fiddled with it at a service which cured it. Problem came back. Was fiddled with again at next service....currently staying shut. I'm not sure what to look for as I couldn't see anything.

Need to be careful. If it doesn't shut properly (ie has to be forced) it can pop open whilst driving. Had mine pop open on the catch at speed.

Mine did this and it turned out that the little spring had stretched which stopped it from working properly. My garage tried to charge me for a whole assembly but my mate who's an RAC man fixed it for about 10p.!!!!!

had similar thing in the end was just greasy and crap in the mechanism, give it a good coat of degreaser (try wd40 or similar) then use screwdriver to snap catch shut, flick it open inside cabin, do this quite a few times (get a mate to help instead of walking lol) and they try again, if that fails then catch is nackered.

I tried using a screw driver and some stuff to clean the crap out of it. I'll give it another go tomorrow, with some proper degreaser.
Cheers

Chris
p.s
i tried to take the grille off to get in about it properly but couldn't get it loose at the bottom. Is there a screw or something i'm missing?

best way mate, need to make sure you flick bonnet catch inside car quite a few times when trying to degreas, prob did mine near 50 to clean it properly. i know use a de greasing lubricant (industrial stuff my dad gets for moulding machine moving parts, aka high temp)
