I have had my 53 plate Scooby now for aprox 1 week, love everything about it so far (apart from maybe petrol) but i have notcied that the stereo quality is absolute cr*p compared to my mini. Any others have similar problem. Its not much of a problem as i tend to lsiten to the engine.

F1 - can you tell me more about the system you put in - how much to buy and how much to install - presumably its the type that ejects from the dash and swivels to reveal the screen?
Now you've got one, what do you think? I'd be interested to hear as I've been thinking about getting one...
Cheers.

The first thing I do with ANY car is rip out the OE system and dump in my Pioneer gear (head, amps, speakers etc).
Anything from the factory in almost any car is pants imo.
Even the "tuned" Bose system in the NSX sounds awful. The Harmon Kardon stuff in the 7series BMW is ok, but only just (but at that price, I should bl**dy well hope so

when you see the speakers you will realise just why the sound is so crap. They are like paper! Even upgrading these makes a significant difference. Think the Kenwoods I bought were no more than £100.00 for the fronts and rears and I kept oem head unit in for a while until I stuck a single din secs monitor in the car.

hi my systems a Kenwood DDX-6029 and then I replaced all my speakers with JBL front and back so far I have been very impressed with it being able to play 30 – 40 albums with out changing cds is great. the system could be easier to use but this is only an issue for the first week or two.
I had the system installed by mcs-direct (www.mcs-direct.co.uk) in Lester who came recommended by my Subaru dealer (westaway motors Northampton). the system cost fully fitted £950
but i love it when you are in a jam and can just put a film on
, priceless
(WRC 2003 DVD at the min)
there was a previous discussion on this system a few months back with some good info and pics, Tostys the one to blame for my expenditure any way if any one wants more info or pics then pm me and I will send some to you if i can

Get yourself some JBL 6.5" components from Motorworld, they will come 2 6.5" door speakers, 2 tweeters to go inside the little grill next to the door handle(if you have tweeters as stock in the newage cars) and you will get 2 crossover boxes (about the length of your palm if not smaller) run them of the stock subaru unit and it may sound better if not do what i did and what others have done throw the stock system away and get yourself a half decent headunit. I reckon if you kit out the whole car with just the speakers in the doors and parcel shelf and buy a new h/u your probably not looking at more than £250 and thats for a half decent sound.
BTW where abouts are you?
