i've just done the same for MY03WRX which has PPP but is going for a remap.
If you look under the passenger side front footwell carpet you will find a metal plate with 4-5 bolts holdingit on under where the passenger puts his/her feet.
under that is your ecu. On the ECU will be a number and a letter in big print. Mine was 6C for example. Thats your code.
then you just need to find an ecu with the same code.

Is that definately the the original ECU? The reason that I ask is that a number of JDM STI (GDB) cars have 6x ECUs. The 6a is the C/D-Type STI and the 6b is the C/D-Type STI Spec C; the 6l is the B-Type STI. My reference only covers JDM car unfortunately....
