Default Were to get it mapped?

My car will be soon be back in my care after an engine rebuild and after the 1000mile run in i will be looking to get it mapped.

Ive had a peek at the scoobyclinic website and notice they remap my car (95 sti2) for £380. Has anyone here had this map done on their 93-97, and how do they rate it?

Not sure if an ecutek can be done on a sti2. But if it can then Andy Forrest is the man to see. He does Apexi also if you want to go down that route. He's based in Port Seton, near Edinburgh.

Port Seton, the other side of edinburgh, off the A1. But Andy is so famous in Scoobyland that folk come from the south of Eng-er-land to have him map their cars.

Well worth a 90 min drive !!

Try Bob Rawle.

He mapped my car a while back and never had it drive so well.

Highly recommended.

Folks, if 95 lives in Glasgow and wanted to know where in the Edinburgh area Andy F was based, he's not gonna go down to Eng-er-land !

PS looks like Scotland and England had equally successful nights in the footie !

Possibly a dopey question.

But, if say Andy Forrest maps your car (and I'm aware he has a good reputation etc) and it goes bang a week later what do you do?

Above obviously assumes you've got a Subaru UK warranty etc.

Does/would Andy just wash his hands of it?

I'd love to get my current car remapped, but the above just puts me right off.
I've got the PPP fitted by the way - MY05 UK STI.

If it does, it won't be because of Andy's mapping! I've yet to hear one single negative comment about his services on here, ditto for Bob Rawle (who mapped my car). Your car will run better/safer after they've gotten their hands on it!

I think the short answer to your question is that if you get a car remapped, you can kiss goodbye to your warranty; you blow it up, you pay for it.

As for what the mapper would do, well I guess that would be up to the individual mapper concerned. Problem is, the car might subsequently let go for reasons completely unrelated to the map, and there is no reason why they should have to cover that.

Maybe if you can prove that the map was to blame, then there would be a provision under civil law for the services provided not being "fit for purpose" or something like that, but really I suspect that mapping is a classic case of "let the buyer beware" that's why its so important to choose your mapper carefully.

I think you're in very good hands with any of the mappers mentioned on this thread, Andy, Bob and Paul all have excellent reputations. I'm not sure that Bob maps Apexi ECUs though, you'll have to ask him.

I didn't think you were mate.

The point is that the piece of mind you seek can only really be attained by choosing a mapper with an excellent reputation.

The only alternative is to get PPP which doesn't invalidate your warranty, or to find somewhere that offers warranties on their tuning packages; I believe Powerstation do.

I do have the PPP though.

Its just that I think it runs out of steam fairly early, and doesn't "go" just aswell as another STI which I drove recently.

Opps, forgot about that. Sorry!

That's the problem with PPP being generic; it works better for some cars than others. You can get better gains elsewhere that will be tailored to your specific car, but you loose the Subaru warranty. Sounds like you either have to accept that and go for it, or contact a tuning company that offer warranties of their own, like PS. I stand to be corrected, but I doubt warranties of this nature will be as comprehensive as the ones offered by Subaru though.

Simon Roe (sp?) aka Jolly Green Monster on here is based in the SE and can supply and map Apexi Power FC. He is rapidly getting a very good reputation too.
