I looked into this last week. Did a fairly lengthy search.
As has been said, Goodyears are one of the best wet weather tyres there is.
However, some Scooby owners have found problems with sidewalls cracking and shoulders wearing too quickly. This could down to folk not buying a high enough load rating (87 or more is required).
Because I thought there was a risk of premature wear I decided to try something else.
Bridgestone Potenzas are reckoned to be good, but other tyres are better in the wet.
Michelin Pilot Sport 2's seem to be just about the best tyre around, but are very pricey !!
Toyo T1R's are excellent in the wet, good in the dry and have strengthened sidewalls, so they shouldn't suffer from the same problems as the Goodyears.
I went for the Toyos.

Similar wear rates to the F1's and Proxy's, as good as the F1's in the dry and better than both in the wet - finally, can be had cheaper than the rest too![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

I need to replace both fronts due to my first years spirited driving. The car came with 215/45/17 Potenzas on and I dont really want to replace the backs, as there is very little wear.
Am I best to go with the Potenzas again or could I put Toyos on the front then match them up on the back when it comes time to replace them ?
Bearing in mind I live in the frozen North (Bishop Auckland to be exact) and the next ice age will be starting in the next few weeks, it can get a bit sketchy on the roads up here and I'd like to stay on them.

I don't find the Bridgestones much cop in the wet, particularly when the leaves are on the road. I think I`ll be switching to Toyos at the next change which will be due soon.

As I asked in my previous mail, if I cant afford to replace all 4 at once, am I ok to replace two at a time whilst also switching from one make to another. ie from Potenzas all round to Toyos upfront and Potenzas on the back, then to Toyos all round a while later ?

Pirelli P-Zero's, good in wet or dry but wore quite quickly, Bridgestone potenza's were a bit iffy in the wet and now on Toyo T1R's which, so far I can't fault in wet or dry. However if the look of your tyres is paramount then i'm sure I read somewhere that one of the tyre companies was going to introduce COLOURED tyres !!! Skid marks in the colour of your choice., Not just black or ... Nuff said.

I cant think how coloured tyres would be any good at all in any condition. Tyres are black through the addition of carbon black in the mixing process for the rubber. Carbon black gives the tyre abbrasion resistance and to my knowledge there is no such thing as carbon yellow or carbon blue! One more thing...... michelin tyres are high in price because of their **** poor manufacturing efficiency. This inefficiency is passed to the customer in elevated prices. Michelin tyres are no better than other manufacturers
