If you drive at the posted speed limit in town then what's the problem? Have no sympathy at all for idiots who break the limits in built up areas. Out on the open road is another matter.........

Your lack of knowledge of your responsibilities as a driver and the highway code is shocking. Do you actually hold a licence?

If so you'd know that when you pass the sign you should be within the posted limit. Whether that's 'just before' or some time depends on the situation doesn't it? ie if you have someone close behind you then slowly bleed off speed before you reach the sign. If you have to 'slam on' then I'd say that's borderline 'due care and attention'. Personally I rarely if ever have to brake down to the posted limit. Ever consider the benefits of planning ahead and letting your speed denude itself by letting your foot off the accelerator?

Your opinion of me, however incorrect, does not mitigate from the fact that my advice and comments above are 100% correct. Tell your lame excuse about 40 to 30 to the magistrates loser.

Learn to drive you pr1ck.

A bit of an obtuse question but no I'm not in favour of speed cameras being used in the way they are on UK roads.
Neither am I in favour of numpties who don't know their highway code being allowed anywhere near a car.

I don't agree with them being hidden anywhere. Neither do I agree with people who don't know their highway code being behind the wheel of a car.

Afraid I have to agree with vapids first post(without the anger ), personally I hardly ever use my breaks as I'm always looking ahead, though I have to say if you are driving in area you don't know it can be quite easy to get court out, at least you slowed down on noticing the sign the people that annoy me are the ones that hold everyone up doing 40 in a national then carry on doing 40 when they enter a 30

why would you have any problem with them if you always stick to the exact speed limit?

I don't claim to stick to the exact speed limit. The 'problem' I have with speed cameras is that they are a blunt instrument.
What I do have a bigger problem with than speed cameras is the number of ill informed and under skilled drivers there are on roads I have to use. Like you for example.

On a slightly different note, I pass a few speed cameras outside of a school on my way to work. I realised the other day that when I go past them I spend most of the time looking at my speedo rather than the kids on the side of the road. I am actually MORE likely to run someone over because the cameras are there! How ironic is that?!?!

Just out of interest are your qualifications as a good driver from your own observations or have you undergone any formal training/assessment?

A greater irony would be if you crashed into the speed camera!

I didn't say it was OK for me to speed.
I imagine I'd get full marks or very, very close on a written test as I've read and know my current highway code otherwise I wouldn't be driving in the UK.
It's not a question of how right or wrong you were, if you get caught breaking the law and they can trace you then you're fcuked. The fact you are ignorant of the law is no defence, in fact to my mind it makes the whole thing worse.
Maybe try slowing down to the limit by the time you reach the start of it and you wouldn't start a bitching thread on here.

Another poster asked my qualifiactions as a driver, nothing special, just the IAM, various driver training courses and years of experience driving varied vehicles over 100's of thousands of miles.

theres a reason the Monaco Grand Prix is the jewel in the F1 crown, people love speeding in tight areas.

However i dont agree to this whole bull**** about how hes a crap driver if hes doing 40, if you ****ers who are critcising him do 30, good on yer grandads - but i doubt anyone does 30 anymore 35 minimum.
