STI VII has the EVO VII on the run
#1
Taking an unbiased stance as a soon to be BMW driving pratt I have looked at what next
Price wise the STI VII has the EVO VII beaten all hands up. IM seem to have laid down the gauntlet to Mitsubishi with the official STI VII coming in at 26k (reportedly). This time both have goodish brakes and the STI VII a six speed box. This looks like it would represent a good 3-4k price difference. You could buy some serious mods for that. If Prodrive release a PPP then you will have more power than an EVO fully warranted and still money in the bank.
Going down the Import route it still seems like a 2k difference.
If you tune both cars then according to the lovely magazines that tested the Warrender EVO VII and STI VII, then the STI shows the EVO VII a clean set of heals. (talking 2k worth of mods, not 10k here boys)
Added extra's that come for free are this BBS, and events such as Saturday at PE. The EVO does have a BBS (when on line), and not a big a community.
Plus the STI looks better IMHO. Sure there are other views

sorry chins, the evo 7 migth beugly but it isnt hideous like the sti. Although it does improve with the wing and the uk 300 lights.
in a straight line you may be right about this clean set of heels lark, but in the twisties the 7 is gonna be tough to beat and the magazines that you quote seem to agree with that.

You could be right on the handling, but with the 3-4k saving on the STI VII you could buy a better set up than the std EVO VII, plus have money for other mods.
What is interesting is how much Mitsubishi take their customers for a ride on the price. Ralliart are charging 30k for a std EVO VII. If IM are charging 26k how do they justify it.
Seems like IM have stolen a march on Mitsubishi here.

is there a definite confirmation of the price or is it just a romour ? i can't see them selling the UK300 PPP for 26k and then selling the sti for the same price ?
saying that i do like the UK wrx sti prodrive.
