If you have his number why dont you speak to him and invite him to explain why hes calling you wife. You could explain that if you ever find out who he is that you will break his legs or that you are giving his number to the boys in blue. Your choice but if it was me I would go with the leg breaking option

Assuming the nuisance calls aren't the result of drink and/or drugs (where the offender probably doesn't realise he's doing it), it'll either be personal (someone your household has annoyed, somehow) or a 'power' thing -- where the caller is just content with having the upper hand by simply annoying you when he/she feels like it.
Get the ball rolling -- take charge of the situation. Sounds like you have his number, good. Start making notes of dates and times. Call 'him' and tell him how it's going to be, i.e. insist he (or whoever is doing it from that number) stops calling your number and advise that you're recording the call (even better if you do). Advise the offender that if there is even one more call to your line then you'll be instructing the Police to investigate a case of stalking/harrassment towards your wife. On top of Police action, advise you will also consider legal action.
BT also offer a service called 'Choose to Refuse' whereby you can block numbers. It costs £3.35/month though, but you can obviously consider this as a short term measure.
Never consider violence unless you want the offender to win when you get a custodial sentence.
Jonts.

If you have his number contact his service provider and they will sort, then contact the police as its harrassment, then if all else fails contact your service provider and tell them whats going on and they will change your wife's number for free.
If all above fails post his number and i work nights and can call him all night just to pi$$ him off for you

St3v3,
I really feel for you mate. My girlfriend kept having phone calls to her mobile. Telling the little f**kers to leave it and get a life only made them do it more. In the end we changed the mobile number only to find that 2 months down the line she kept getting the same calls. So it had to be through someone she knew? In the end we got to the bottom of it and found it was one of her "so called best friends" boyfriend doing it. He kind of lost interest in doing again once I found out it was him and I had "a little chat" with him. The most sickening thing was that his girlfriend my Misses EX-mate was in on it too.
How long has the phone calls been going on for mate? I'd take the report route for the time being before taking it the next step. But at the end of the day it is harassment and can prove stressful.
Good Luck fella
Steve
