Tonight at about 8pm I hear some fireworks going off outside the flat - a little too close to home so I go and check the Scoob is ok.
To my dismay I see that one of the fireworks is going off in the car.
The little runts (not so little about 14) had made 2 holes in my rear screen and let one off in the car.
Went outside - car was full of smoke (no visable damadge in the car but 1 rear screen that needs replacing now - not so easy on a STi3 5 door.
Anyway called Silver Shield Windscreens (Highways Policy use them) and obviously they did not have one in stock but to ensure that the car was safe I could drive it to their depot in Barking (about 5 miles) where one of their fitters would meet me, ensure the car was stored) and take me home again.
So TOP marks to Silver Shield - 0800 389 3301

Yosser,

I had my WRX Wagon broken into a few months ago and had to get my rear passenger side window replaced. The glass had to come from Japan as the UK glass is a different colour.

Hope this helps,

Mark

Yosser,

Sorry to hear that mate. I am increasingly DISGUSTED with the general attitude of a growing majority of kids.

All I can say, it's a bloody good job we don't have gun laws like in the US, as a long barreled Ruger Blackhawk pointed at the toerags knees would be extremely tempting

What is the world coming to....

You have to wonder what education, if any that these kids are being given. I'm a firm believer that, and I shall probably cause a fight here, that the blame lies soley with the parents. Its their duty to teach their children right from wrong, and these kids OBVIOUSLY haven't been taught that. Its a shame you didn't manage to catch one, I would have dragged him home and DEMANDED that his parents fork out for the damage.

My thoughts..........

Mulder,

Gotta agree with you on that one. There are some little brats misbehaving on our estate, (luckily not near to my house), and they are the same kids who are outside day and night (I'm talking 7 and 8 year olds out until 11pm). Their parents are obviously not bothered what they are doing, so they spend their time throwing eggs at houses and damaging cars.

They did throw gravel at my Scoob just the once and I did immediately follow them to their parents house to 'remonstrate' (being 6'3 and 18 stone helps).

They still kick off though, except not at me.

Not enough discipline is the problem IMO, they need a damn good hiding from time to time!

Never did me any harm "twitch, twitch" but then I wouldn't have gone round letting of fireworks in someones car, 1- because I love cars, 2 - because if my Dad found out he would have beat the living daylights out of me! Good deterent!

Also not enough bobbies on the beat, when was the last time you saw one??? They are all in bloody panda cars!

Sahme you didn't get hold of one of them you could have shoved one of his fireworks up his £$%& !

Scott! - Just read that back, did I get out of the wrong side of bed???

Sorry to hear about this mate. I can't believe the mentality of some of these bu66ers.

I don't suppose you know where these tykes live do you?

Makes me very angry. You get a decent car, spend lots of money, time and effort on it, and some ***** come along and vandalise it for no reason at all.

Sod the AutoTazer - get a Rottweiler or six.

I was a little shocked reading your post. Where do kids get this from?
I guess its from the people that will say "They're only kids...".
Sign of the times perhaps if caught they'll be sent on a holiday?
Hope you get it as good as new shortly

The UK tailgate glass will certainly fit, but the only thing to watch out for is the tint.

Some countries have different tint colours and strengths. However they are usually fairly subtle and difficult to tell.

You should be OK.

Shoot the bartstards thats what I say!!!

Yosser

Sorry to hear that after our conversation on Friday

Once again, never had trouble with the scoob, tho' some dipstick had a go at my bike (trashed steering lock).

I've got to say that every night was like the Blitz (nostalgia?) after August 1 with all the fireworks going off

Hope all is well & I don't regret moving to the country...

Yosser, if your having trouble with the glass, might be an idea to try a breakers, you never know, a bad front end accident might have not broken the rear glass.

Totally agree with concensus here.

Yosser,

Sorry to hear about this - the little barstewards.

Normally my only worry at this time of year is for our cats, but this has made me think twice - can't believe they did that.

We had three little s0ds throwing fruit stones (all of things!) at our car when we were in it!! Slammed on the brakes and watched them from the rear view mirror disppear into a house. Reversed back up the road, opened up the porch door to find all three of them lying on top of each other on the porch floor (have to admit, was all we could do to not laugh at that sight!). Dom let me at them for a bit, shouting/shaking of fists, and then we went back later for a wee visit to the parents who weren't too pleased with them, to put it mildly (turned out they'd already been caught doing it earlier in the week and had been warned about doing it again) - would not like to have been in their shoes that evening.

If they were my kids.....

If you happen to get your hands on them.....

Agree with all of the above, simular problems around our area. Fortunate to have an alarmed garage for the Scoob.

Very lucky there was no internal damage.

One extra point. Why do fireworks have to be onsale weeks before bonfire night, a few days before would be enough.

Cheers

Yozzer sorry to hear about that, hope you get things repaired asap..

.. similar experience, well involved children not giving a sh1te about my car at the time...

1) in the road where I lived some teenagers used to think it extreme funny to bounce a ball over a) the first floor window of my house and b) my car...

2) driving down the M3 towards the M25, kids on a bridge, small rock bounced off my roof (fortunately not my windscreen).. Police caught 'em though, dunno what happened.

Hence, I dont like children round this way...

I know what you mean. We spend money on getting the cars, then more money (and time and effort) on maintaining, insuring and running it, and then little bar5tards come along and vandalise them for no reason.

Someone should throw all their prized possessions away and see how they like it.

There's an estate in Kingston-U-T on the left on the road out to robin hood's gate to richmond park.
A few years ago, (and likely every year since) I remember the newsagents was done over and all the fireworks were nicked.
As I drove past the next night there were a gang of ten or so 6 to 12 year-olds outside of the shop throwing bangers at passing cars!!!!
I also had a kid chuck a lump of wood at my car there. His mum told me to ***k *** when I stopped. She was rough! face like a polymog slapped with a shovel and covered in cheap gold and blue ink.
Saw one police car all year.

Yosser - unbelievable - don't know what else to say.

There does seem to be more of a case now to ban the public sale of fireworks.
