What is it with TT drivers ?
As title suggests, what the hell is up with TT drivers evertime one sees me they seem to have a self destruct switch that goes off, they will do anything they can to try and get past, one tried to undertake me before a roundabout, then tried to outbrake me, then tried to overtake me on the roundabout and ended this little flurry with nearly hitting an old lady in a Micra Needles to say I blew his doors off

I find that audi tt drivers tend to be ****** aswell, once as i overtook one, i was greated with the two finger salute, and this was on a motorway, and he was in the left lane giving it some, i overtook him with ease and up raised his fingers.

Never had that problem!
Only the usual corsa's and saxo's!
[rant]
There mates say "Awwww, you knaw man, jawst blew afff a scooby at da liaghts, yeeeer man"
Next thing I get is a corsa reving at the lights
It happened last night, just pulled off normally and and went left. 30secs later he was over taking me I was doing 60 and he was prob red lining 3rd gear to overtake me on a bend, decided the middle pedle look good and slowed down so no1 would crash, next thing I get is his brake lights and bumper nearly in the front of my car and hazzard lights on, tosser.
Needless to say I had a word with him at the next set of lights and he was very apologetic! To$$er. [/rant]

Are you sure you aren't just a little bit paranoid about the vehicle you are driving yourself?
I encounter just as many ***** on the road in my Ford Ranger pick-up as I do the Subaru
edit...and that includes other Subaru drivers

My wifes got a TTR225 & it seems to be a pretty good car as far as I can tell, it's fast & stable with the 4WD ... of course I'll not mention that a remap would get it up to 270bhp
Saying that though TT drivers did used to try & burn me up when I had my STi V a few years back. Normally the male TT drivers & not the female ones, strange that!!

You can't blame the drivers.
A lot of them have gone 'mobile' these days in the hairdressing game to spread there catchment area, so have to race in between clients (info taken from 'The Cut' may 06)

Maybe it's a VW thing...... Although all the hairdresser comments are spot on
I'm continually getting Golf drivers tailgating me.
They seem to think that just because they have a GOLF, that it's something special... It's almost more satisfying to just not rise to the bait and make them look like fools... Same goes for Fiesta ST's....

There'd be little difference between a standard WRX and a 225TT. Similarly little difference between a WRX PPP and a 225TT+MTM or other remap.
The choice is do you want to look like a chav or a ***?

Can't say as I have ever had the problem, you lot must just be lucky, either that or the average German driver is not to fussed about racing everything on 3 wheels.

I had a TT before my WRX PPP, Was very sad to sell it, but reasons forced it:
You can see it here (if you want): TT Forum :: View topic - My TT (Thought it about time) - 56k warning
I would agree there isn't much in the standard WRX and the standard 225 - performance wise (but it's not all about performance to everyone).
However, I had mine remapped and had many other extras (costing stacks of cash) and it isn't a patch on the PPP'd WRX.
There are a few people on the TT Forum who have gone the route of other turbos and stronger bottom ends but I'd suggest there are maybe only one or two, that have had maybe £15k spent on them that put them into the same (or better for the extreme examples) ball park as a PPP impreza.
Even using Subarus own figures, the WRX is about 5.5 to 60 before ppp and about 4.8 after PPP.
The standard 225 is 6.2 and with most of the remaps you gain about 40bhp and a good bit of torque too. It is nice that the remaps are switchable via cruise control stalk though (on some remaps).
I went for sports cat and pipes too, performance haldex, nice induction system etc with the remap, it should have been about 290bhp at the flywheel.
My most pleasing event was passing a z4 on the dual slip road (fairly easily) onto the motorway, and he was really trying, gritted teeth and everything it was the 3.0L so should have booked about 5.4 to 60.
But, again I cannot tell you just how the PPP seems (and is) much quicker.
I absolutely loved my TT (but don't really like the soft top ones - spoils the lines), the interiors are stunning and obviously it is a lot more solid than a scooby.
That said, I wouldnt have another, unless it was a quick as a scooby and they are BLOODY expensive to maintain.
The "hairdresser" debate rears it's head on the forum from time to time, but it does for all soft top cars (not sure why, surely hairdressers wouldn't want a soft top so their creational masterpieces don't get blown about). Generally it is poeple who have not driven a TT (and they are great to drive - just not as great as a scooby) or are quite simply jealous.
There are good things and bad things for both cars, but the Subaru interior (even the D-Spec) doesn't come close to the TT.
Then again, imo, the TT engine doesn't come cloe to the scoobies.
/though I'd revisit that if they turbocharged the V6 lump

oh, and another 2p worth from me....
Most TT drivers do think their cars are very quick, and I guess they are no slouch.
Until they drive a WRX, then think "hey, that's quick too", then they drive PPP and probably wouldn't try it on again with a scooby
It opened my eyes getting a scooby and I know as an 04 WRX PPP that it is by no means quick in comparison to some of the beats out there.
I know how fast my car is, I'd dread to think what some of the others are like to drive
/It just makes me chuckle that you could go out and buy anicely looked after well modded classic for say 7k and blow a nice expensive brand new M3 away

Seem to see a loads of Sales types driving TT's 180 / 225's, permantely on the mobile, and thinking they are driving the fastest sport car in the world !
How I laughed when that unmarked police car flashed you and you gave it the 2 finger salute. Even better was your face when the blue light materialised out of the grill.
Hope you collected some points and a fine for your stupidity !

I have to say on these type of threads, pot kettle black.
If there's one type of car whose owners on the whole think they're the fastest on the road, it's scoobs.
Anyway, it's all relative, I'd say to scoobs, stop trying to race me in my westie, I aint gonna bother, I'd **** over you, besides I've got bigger fish to fry.

Other than that all I can say is that two cars that weigh more or less the same and have more or less the same power outputs are going to be more or less as quick as each other. My own theory is that the very flat power delivery of the TT feels less quick than the kick in the pants you get with an Impreza.
In all honesty I think it's pretty pathetic that the Subaru owners on here use crappy terms like 'blow away' when anybody who isn't living in fantasy land knows you need a power/weight ratio advantage of at least 100bhp per ton to blow anything away.
All this talk of 'wasting' people on public roads makes Subaru owners sound like pathetic losers.
