Turbo upgrade and exhaust noise
I’m upgrading my turbo tomorrow, I’m having a TD05 fitted to my wagon, it will be interesting to see how she performs after the operation. I’m quite looking forward to it in fact.
With the TD04 at the moment I can hear the turbo coming in just below 2000 revs although the fun doesn’t really start until you get above 3500.
I know some people will say the car will lose some driveability but after a ride in a mates WRX PPP I’m not too concerned.
The only thing I’m a little concerned about is an increase in exhaust noise, I have a full 2.5” decat exhaust, will I notice any increase in noise?

you need a corresponding ecu that is fitted to a tdo5 car to get the benefits of the new turbo, otherwise the boost map and probable fuelling will be out

Exhaust shouldnt really be louder but if it is it shouldnt be by much,

The real test will be the wife, she already thinks the car is loud. I didn’t tell her when I had a full decat fitted and it was only 3 weeks later when she drove the car herself that she made a comment about the exhaust blowing!
