Default Dilemma

My extended warranty is due to run out in December, and a service and MOT is due this month.

I know I'm tied in with Subaru for the servicing for them to even consider honouring claims.

Looking at my service schedule though, I think they'd try and get out of it anyway.

Service History:
Date Service Actual Mileage
02/01 1000 1030
12/01 7500 6279
03/03 15000 12053
12/03 22500 16169
12/04 30000 21511
11/05 37500 24647
04/06 45000 27505

As you can see although it's been serviced well inside the mileage, it hasn't been serviced every 6 months.

Do you think the warranty would invalidate any claim?

Do I get it serviced elsewhere and save myself about £50 or get it done there just in case even if they can maybe get out it anyway...?

Firstly. It doesn't need to be service every 6 months. It's every 12 months or 10,000 miles, which ever comes first.

Second. It doesn't have to be serviced by Subaru for them to Honor your warranty. As long as the place you had it serviced is MOT registered, uses manufacturer parts, and adheres to the manufacturers service schedule, then you can have it serviced where ever you like. This is a false statement by main dealers in order for you to use them for all your servicing, while charging you exorbitant rates in the process.

The car is a MY00 so the service schedule states that servicing should be carried out every 6 months or 7500 miles.

Unfortunately I have had it confirmed that 'Extended' Warranties do not come under the same Block Exemption ruling.

New car warranties are fine, though when you agree to an extension; it stipulates that Subaru Dealers must be used.
