Default Legal Number plate

I want to change my Front plate, to a square one, is it just standard 'motorcylce' plate i need, or does it have to be a certain size. Cheers.

Many companies selling this type of "square" plate, refer to them as a bike plate.

That's exactly what I purchased, and it's totally legal mate.

If you want a slightly larger plate you can go for the evo one

number plates are there for a reason - to identify a car and to be easily read. They are not fashion accessories

Cheers for tha guys The plate will still be in standard uk form with no fancy bits on it, I just think that a square plate on a MY06 Sti looks nicer. Also due to the shape of the new front there is a massive overhang either side of the current one which could easily get ripped off.

any decent show will do you up a legal one, some call em bike plates, jap plates etc. Just have look at what they have before thye do anything. One the square plates for classic registration typres you got the first letter and numbers on the firts line and the remaining letters on the bottom line.

Not so.

Where you have a non standard apeture (on a non-type approved vehicle) you are entitled to use a registration plate which incorporates motorcycle sized characters with different spacing.

"(a) each character in the registration mark must be 64 millimetres high;
(b) the width of each character of the mark, other than the letter "I" and the figure "1", must be 44 millimetres;
(c) the width of every part of the stroke forming a character in a mark must be 10 millimetres;
(d) the spacing between any two characters within a group must be 10 millimetres;
(e) the vertical spacing between groups of characters must be 5 millimetres;
(f) the width of a margin between the mark and the top and lateral sides of the registration plate must be not less than 5 millimetres;
(g) the space between the bottom of the mark and the bottom of the registration plate must be not less than 13 millimetres; but, within that space, the space between the bottom of the mark and the top of the name and postcode of the person by whom the plate was supplied must be not less than 5 millimetres.
