UK/Euro and JDM STi have HID's as standard. The JDM Spec C doesn't.

Can second that - they are excellent. I'm not sure if they're standard on the WRX tho?

HID is just the bulbs isn't it? Just replace the bulbs then ...

actually no it's not just the bulb. you can get the white light bulbs but it's not the same.

here's a website about HID's

Halcyon: Understanding High Intensity Discharge Lighting

i've got HID's on my wrx. they were on the car when i bought it, so i couldn't give you tips on installing it. but there is a seperate box that is mounted under the hood for each head light. and i had a distinctive "click" when i turn the lights on

EDIT: found some more info with pix on wikipedia.org

High-intensity discharge lamp - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

they are very good but does need matching full beam bulbs too - PIAA extreme are a good match colour wise.

I'm seriously thinking about upgrading the bulbs on my STi, because they're tosh. So i should use PIAA Extreme bulbs? What model/bulb type?

I could do this when de-tangoing i guess...

Do you meanPIAA HE268 H4 Platinum white headlight bulbs approx £49

(quick google) but is 40% better than a standard halogen going to get anywhere near to the HIDs - I doubt it

The dipped HIDs are so good with the wide band of pure white light that the main beam really seems poor.

better than nothing though and the main beam just dont match when driving at night - these work a treat and are bright enough and the right colour tone.

as mentioned the HID's are lightyears (get it) ahead of the standard lights. I'll grab my coat...
