The new one with a 2.5 engine. Now I realise the Jap spec is a better buy but new for 22k is a bargain. You would think that the 2.5 should be more tuneable? what with extra capacity and the like so i was wondering if the type 25 and many a bigpower conversion has been done with a 2.5 why is the new uk 2.5 not a better option for tuning? it seems like it should be!! Am I asking a dumbass question

GGR has developed a 373bhp upgrade for approx £2600, but many of the tuners say that the pistons are weaker and that 340bhp is about the limit for reliability. It is easy to get to 340bhp and Power Station do such an upgrade for about £1350. The PPP from Prodrive allows you to keep your warranty on a UK supplied car and has been dynoed at up to 337bhp (although officially 316bhp) this costs £1700 and involves remap, fuel pump and upgraded exhaust parts.
To get to 340bhp you only need an exhaust fuel pump and re-map. For the 373 upgrade an induction kit was also added.

i think thats what I mean. My 01 sti has 334 with remap decat etc and I would have thought that the 2.5 offered greater scope? Does it produce more toque greater mid range or is it pointless being 2.5 when it could have stayed at 2.0?
