i am looking to change the reversing light on my import to a fog light and an option may be to replace wiring and fit a powerful red bulb

any suggestions where i might get one from

I just did this myself. I'm not sure if the brand is available there but APC makes an 1156 red LED bulb:

It's quite bright and a nice feature is that the clear lens dosen't take on a red tinge during the daylight hours. In order to compensate for the loss of back-up lighting I installed a halogen back up bulb in the opposite side.
