What do you do to protect your scooby from thieving scum
Scooby ownership beckons for me in a few weeks, and I will be parking my pride and joy out on the street. Just wondering what gadgets etc you guys use to try and make it as difficult as possible for the thieves to pinch your motor.
I remember a few years back some guy wired his cossie up to the mains and fried a couple of thieves (well deserved in my book), but this might be a little too extreme for me

New-age cars need the keys, as there is a transponder in the key that talks to the ignition barrel, and that in turn talks to the ECU. If any one part isn't right it will not start. There are of course ways around this, but only the top pro's know them so far. Low loaders can be used too. I favour the Blackjax system which will keep the car safe even if they have the keys, unless they beat the code out of you. A Disklok and Dipol Lock are a must too. Trackers are a waste of time and money. They can easily be jammed, located and removed; and let's face it, you probably don't want it back anyway.

Lock your doors when out in it, be wary of PDC's changing to red with no one visable waiting to cross, each time you come to a stop, check all your mirrors and leave 3/4 of a car length infront of you should you need to move off quickly and the traffic is still stopped.
When it's parked try and block it in, kerb the wheels, put CCTV on it (if you can). Get a key safe for your keys and alarm your house.
Hope that helps

Sounds like i'm not going to get much sleep at night.....you've all put the wind up me now. Theres a Police garage at the top of my road, I might have a word with them and see if I can park in there, for a small donation to a charity of their choice of course

Bin that cat 1 sigma (or cobra in my case )fit a Toad (wired in properly - nice and stealthy, unlike what they don't seem to be able to do at the docks with the sigmas ).
Disc lock or Autolock 2000T NOT a metro stop lock or bar type device
Relocate tracker to a different hiding location
Delock the doors and remove locking rods (unless you have a newage suffering from flat battery syndorme)
Cat 3 wheel clamp (for parking in long stays/all day in dodgy areas)
Further consideration:
Toad GSM pager (on my christams list)
Smoke cloak system (good for showin' off to da cruizerz at McD's)

Dealer has told me the tracker/immobiliser is a Meta system. It can text you when the car's been pinched (how polite!) , and you can text it back to imobilise the car . I think it is this one
GPA800 / Vehicle Telematics / Vehicle Area / MSYUK / Root folder - Welcome to MetaSystem UK Limited
Anyone know if it's any good?

A reputation for extreme retribution ala "Dave Courtney" would probably help.
Failing that - Let em have it and claim the insurance, at the end of the day it just ain't worth getting killed over.
Karma has a way of balancing things out in the long run in my humble opinion.
Suggest you watch "My name is Earl"
