Cool

It's just the English love of queue that does it I seem to remember a TV show doing this somewhere in London. They just got a group of people to stand in a line and waited for other people to join it - they did!!

Ah, Johnny-Boy, this is where you are hiding!

It's funny, but my Momma said that you had queued for hours, and AFTER, it had been for no apparent reason.

Last time around Joe Public had a lot of support for the lorry drivers and didnt mind getting the train to work for a couple of days, but with the current situation on the trains i think people are going to be a little less supportive

Question

Beatle, yeah this is true, trains are hardly the safest form of transport currently...

I was one of the lucky ones last time around, as I was out of the country.. just caught the aftermath... I have to say though, although I agree petrol is expensive incomparison to other countries, the government will have to get the revenue back somehow if they reduce petrol prices, I can't help but think we would end up suffering with something else, like road tax, speeding fines etc.. At the end of the day, its the most efficent way to tax road users for use of the roads, just a shame next to none of it goes back into road maintence... IMHO that is...

The fact that the weather is cr*p and people aren't going to want to use public transport like buses if possible, probably won't help either.

On Monday we had water up to the start of our car park (we're right next to Kingston bridge). The lower decking was under water and we had to switch off the air conditioning for safety reasons.

Today there are stationary waves directly in front of us as the water bounces off the flood barriers comes back down the river and collides with the current going the other way.

Haven't seen any swans/ducks around for a while either - but then with the current moving pretty fast they are probably either hiding or well...

I saw queues outside the Shell station on the North side of Wansdworth Bridge. Sheep! I'm OK for now but what if I had counted on filling up there last night? Sad, sad, sad.

Luckily I filled up night before last so I'm ok. I'll find somewhere on Sunday probably and get a full tank before next week.

People see a queue and panic and do the same. It is quite amusing really.

Just taken me over an hour to get some fuel.

10 minutes to fill up, got to the checkout and my card had expired at the end of October!!! Bu66er, had to wait for the wife to come and dig me out.

Just driven from the South coast to Brum, and *every* petrol station that i passed was either full of queues or out of stock.

Only got a few pints left in my tank now, but i am confident that i will easily be able to fill up tomorrow - after all, every bugger else on the road must be full to the brim by now!

Thankyou Messrs Blair, Brown and Straw.

I was not wrong!

Popped into my local garage at 9:15 this morning for a tankful of SUL - no queues (one other car), no purchase limits, no waiting!

I hope that the sheep who panic-ed yesterday feel very stupid.

News this afternoon claimed that the petrol stations that were already dry should be refilled by end of play today - this from a statement from the oil companies.

I plan on taking a nice leisurely drive tomorrow afternoon and filling up then.

Nice little drive yesterday afternoon... full tank of SUL from BP on the A4 near Hammersmith.

Also discovered that the Tesco Express in Barnes does SUL (although they were dry yesterday). Does anyone know about the quality of Tesco SUL.

I personally think that the government should reduce Petrol Tax and simultaneously, increse the tax levy on goods like tobacco.

They could "market it" as a campaign to cut down on the number of people who are currently smoking/starting to smoke, while at the same time, be guaranteed of a sure fire revenue generator cause lets be honest - people who are smoking already, will continue to smoke pretty much regardless of prices!

Think that makes sense (does in my opinion anyway!)

Anyway, flame suit well and truly on!!!

I agree with Kevin, and as I don't drink they can double the tax on alcohol, and make petrol free, now that would really cheer me up. As well as guaranteeing my vote at the next election.

I personallly think they should tax everything I dont use/do, and remove the tax on the things that I buy/do.

Football for starters, it dont interest me, so tax it to high hell.

SO, Tony Blair, can you send me a form so that I can let you know where you should be collecting your tax?

get my drift?
