Advice needed RE: Body Services
I've just taken my 53 WRX in for it's 3yr\30k service.
While sat outside the dealers waiting for them to open up I flicked through my service book just to double-check the dates. Instead the book fell open on the Body Service page, and it wasn't filled in for the first year. Eh?
Anyway, I went into the dealers and asked them about the 3 year service and body service. "OH, that's separate." they said and I'd have to book it in another time.
Now since the first year I've changed to a new dealers much closer to home (about 40 miles closer!). But it looks like the first didn't do the service even though I asked for a 12 month service. And the new one wasn't going to do it even though I asked for a 3 year service.
So the question is, where do I stand with the warranty? And, is there a conspiracy among dealers not to mention the body service? ;o)
Any help or advice before I start firing letters about would be much appreciated
Thanks

It is indeed separate from the main service and it is your responsibility to ensure it is done. Your mechanical warranty will remain intact, but you may struggle if you get some serious rust (doubtful) but I'm sure the dealer whom carries out the 3yr body warranty will stamp the 1yr for you but TBH, not many people bother getting it done. Scoobs aren't prone to rust, and the conditions of the warranty make the likelyhood of a valid claim very doubtful. The price is the main reason people let it slide. I've heard of some people being ripped off to the tune of 125+vat, but I got my yr1 for 40+vat. Didn't bother with yr3 and have since sold it on.

Thanks, was quoted £30. Didn't sound too bad.
I can imagine if there's nothing wrong after 3 years then there wasn't anything wrong 2 years ago was there? All common sense but try telling that to a lawyer!

I had the 3 year one done the other week purely to keep up with the schedules. Cost £50.00 all in and was with the dealer for approximately one hour.
Be warned the car stinks when you get it back due to the chemicals that are used. Boot leaked some thick liquid as well on my way home which I wasn't too chuffed about and it was a bugger to get off. Saying that the dealer did warn me this "may" happen...........
Think its £30.00 plus vat that you can put to something else.

Was told that it had to be done for the warranty etc but never told me they were going to charge nearly £120 to do it.Got a **** poor job done and £120 for half a gallon of waxoyl.Redid it myself for £18 for a gallon of waxoyl and certainly wont be getting the dealer to do it at the next service. Also noticed there is two plastic covers along the sills that had absolutely no protection under them at all (MY05 STI) - took five minutes to remove the covers and spray the area with waxoyl youd think for the money charged they would have at least done this.If your planning keeping the car for a while then its well worth doing especially for £40 because its a dirty job doing it yourself.
