Default Direct Line rip off!!!

Just rang direct Line who i am insured with and told them i have put the Pro drive back box on ( just to be safe, so they knew) and I was expecting a bit of a 5% increase for it, have a guess at the premium to be added............................................. .................................................. .................................................. ....................£200.......................... ............................................yes thats .................................£200 for a fkin back box, are they completely off their heads? THE FILTHY ROBBING B.........S. I tolf them to stick it and I will take it off and store it till next year and then I will go with a company with some brains and common decency. In fact if I wasnt going to get dicked for cancelling it now I would do so and go with A plan or K Michaels or someone like that, I am so angry I could stamp my feet. Thats half my f*kin yearly premium on top, I only pay £450 a year anyway.......................oh Im ranting now I am going to shut up!!

Additional 200 quid for a fecking back box! They're having a tin bath.

I've been looking for insurance for a JDM STI and some companies just make me wanna laugh in their faces. Even some supposed "Import/Performance" specialists were fecking useless.

I got a great quote from A-Plan (729 quid) and thats who i'll be using.

Most normal insurers will increase your premiuns when start modding, thats why it pays to go with companys like A-Plan or Keith Michaels in the first place

Hi There,

I checked with Direct Line recently regarding the PPP. The asked for another £300, I drew their attention to the fact they quote a 261 WRX model (not WRX300) on their website, which costs only another £70 compared to a standard WRX to insure.

The end result, I push and pushed, spoke to the helpdesk manager , who agreed the price increase was minimal and explained there is a lot of confusion with 3-party mods and prodrive kits. She agreed Prodrive kits were manufacturer approved and therefore did not warrant such a great risk.

There are a lot on monkeys on the helpdesk at Direct-line, probably best to clarify with someone in authority.

I'm not a fan of the mod friendly insurance companies. A-Plan took months to pay for a car which I had stolen (and never recovered) a number of years ago. Direct Line are very good at sorting out issues quickly, they are a pain about mods, hence why I will go down the Prodrive route.

BTW - I moving to northampton, the insurance is increasing from 380 to 500, but house prices are so cheap compared to Maidenhead.

Regards,

Mike Paul

Just had a head fit at them with the above advice and got them down to £75.00, still £75.00 I know but I can handle that for 12 months and I keep my nice sounding exhaust box.

That seems right, they charged me an extra £70 for de-cat centre, back box and alloys.

I was insured through them when I first got the scoob, They charged me 10% of the policy when I added a back box, I nearly fell of the chair when they told me,It turned out to be £150!!!!!

I'm now insured with A Plan and have been for the last 3 years. I wouldn't touch Direct Line again with a barge pole.
