Thumbs down

How does that information help them to stop being stolen?

Doesn't that just give people info on how to nick stuff?

You can put some blu-tack over the the middle slot 2 slots from the badge and prevent the theft now.

Excellent, well done for posting this so that anyone that was unsure exactly how to do it, now knows precisely what to do.

What's your next trick? Posting exact details on how to bypass immobilsers perhaps?

Here a tip - Keep this sort of information to yourself - It really is the biggest safety service you can provide.

Give the guy a break. The types of people that do steal cars/car parts are already aware of these types of tricks and more.

I wasn't aware of how easy it is to get the bonnet open but as a result of his post I am now. Fortunately my alarm will go off as it is an aftermarket one and I keep the pin switch clean.

Any more tips or info you wish to share are welcome

What would be better would be to post a (simple) solution to the above problem - rather than just stating the problem.

Having read numerous posts on here regarding thefts I would say the number one way to stop your car getting stolen is to

1. Switch your house alarm on at night (preferably a perimeter detection system which goes off before they get in)

2. Hide the keys.

3. Keep your car in a garage if you have one.

As for stopping car jackings I'm at a loss until perhaps we are allowed to carry guns.

Because
(i)anyone can look on this site and get the information.

and

(ii)Not all scooby owners look on this site.

If lots of information is posted on how these things are done, anyone who fancies nicking a scooby or parts of, can just look here and find all the information they need.

A better method, as suggested previously, would have been just to say "for security reasons, make sure you inspect the bonnet release alarm switch regularly"

No problem at all with people suggesting things we can do to improve car security, but a bit silly to post the method of how to bypass it.

It's a little nieve to think that there isn't that kind of information all over the net if you look for it and as I already mentioned the type of people that steal know the tricks on every desirable car already.

My keys are in the 1st drawer of the side table in the living room, so no need to come upstairs looking for them.. Also don't over rev it and wake us up when you drive away please. Thanks.

Wink

This is all very flippant , bearing in mind those of us who have lost our scoobs recently.
