But I took delivery on a new Honda Civic Type R today :-)
It might not be as quick 0-60 but it certainly feels it. Also, it doesn't rattle inside! And that engine noise from about 5500rpm is amazing.
I was just doing too many miles to justify the running costs of the Impreza and so this was my 'compromise'.
It's silver and should have an SIDC sticker as well as my personal plate within a few days. Wave if you see me.
Also, I'll be taking it to Bedford on Friday for it's first run (on the road that is - tracks will have to wait a bit).

well ... ! dunno, the type-R Civic has this "hot-hatch" image attached to it ... but I agree, it is helluva car with an amazing high-revving range and reliablilty. I would've gone for the import Integra type-R from http://www.warrender.co.uk/

hi laurence
hope the type r is a gr8 success for you and helps ease the pain of being scoobyless ;(
hope to see u and the type r down at our place in bristol sometime soon ??????
how much cheaper do you really estimate the type r will be ?
mainly saving on fuel costs i assume ? insurance group of the type r must be high ?

Hey I live in Winchester - You might have seen my red Integra Type R knocking around, well until Monday when I crashed at Goodwood - See thread.
Im considering the Civic as a replacement, have one on demo for a week soon!

Thanks for the nice comments. I've put around 150 miles, starting to get really used to it. Looking forward to giving it a run out to Bedford on Friday.
blaster: The problem is that the import Integra is about 6k more. I was trying to save some cash remember!
scoobyhead: I thought the shift was odd to start. Within a few miles I think it's great - one of the best shifts I've ever driven in fact. Short and precise but not fussy. Also, leaves space for an extra drink holder
Steve: I'm doing some work for your lot next week but have a feeling it's going to wind up in Leeds unfortunately. No doubt I'll be in Bristol after XMas though. Look out for my plate in the car park (not that it'll exactly be full of TypeR's either )
ADP: Yup I'd seen it around, also saw the crash thread. Sorry about that m8. The reason I went for the Civic finally was that it's more practical than the Integra but not really any slower. Have you read the review in Evo? I'm local this week so watch out - I'll give you a guided tour if you like.

ADP: I've got BT installing my ADSL Thurs am but need to pop out later. I'll drop you a mail and see if we can sort something. Saw the pics of yours this morning - awful you must be gutted.
Steve: Will mail you offline!

Tractor: Go to http://parkers.co.uk, look up an MY98 5 door, look at the A1 price and add 500. That's what I got. Plus another £500 so far for selling off odd bits and bobs from the garage
