Impreza STI V3-What to look for ?
Hi all,
Ive recently sold my Bmw M3 and ive spotted a '96 Impreza STI version 3 that looks very clean.
I dont know much about these or what problems they suffer from, any advice would be appreciated ?
It has 77k miles,12 months mot and 6 months tax, standard apart from exhaust. The guy said he will let it go for £5k,is this is a fair price ?
Cheers,
Simon

This is the big turbo wild cam model so expect a bit of turbo lag - on the plus side, mine is standard bar exhaust decat and k&n and managed 326bhp @ 7,500 rpm

A closed deck block is about as important as the (****-poor quality) red paint finish on the induction manifold, for most people. It makes the block stiffer in some ways and more importantly, it gives a slightly better gasket sealing surface, neither of which are really relevant. The CDB was (principally) a feature of the A & B-Series Type-RAs and it was included for the purposes of motorsport homologation; it seems to have entered Impreza folk-lore though, along with red-tops, forged crankshafts & lightweight body panels...
