Ive never seen a battery explode with such force, usually they just fracture the case..... Perhaps it was an electrical fire and the damage was done by the fire brigade as they removed the battery?

doesn't look it mate, they would have just cut the catch and struts and lifted the whole thing off, pr flipped bonnet up

Alternatively it may simply be a burned (away) aluminium bonnet. It was probably an electrical fire initially.

Ive thought it through more now; it looks like every other aluminium panel Ive seen on a heavily fire-damaged car (mostly Porsche 928s with aluminium bonnet and wings).

I was about to say the same thing, If it is his, he was awoken buy his dog barking only to find that some ******* had poured petrol through his vent and set fire to it.

Never ceases to amaze me what people in this country are capable of.

Chris.

Sadly this is probably the most likely scenario..

It's amazing the tyre is still inflated..!

The ground around the area of the fire looks pretty charred... not sure if that would be the case if a truck delivered the car there in that condition. Also looks like charred melted plastic splashes in front of the car.

Thanks guys, its my car. Just really really shocked that someone managed to get a pic up on here. Can anyone shed any light on who posted the pic or where? any links to the original?

ANd yes its going to be a **** xmas. The insurance have written it off, wont give me the value of the car, no hire car, while i find a new one/wait for my payout, and my premium goes up due to my claim even though it wasnt my fault. Im on the lookout for any whispers as to who did this as that is rpob the only thing that will make me feel better. All my familys xmas pressies were in the car, my beloved ipod, brand new £500 sony stereo and its all ruined. PLEASE if anyone hears anything email me, pm me, anything. I really need this to help sort this mess out.

Hi mate - really sorry about your loss and hope that they find who did it so at least some justice may be enforced.

I spotted the photo on the OCUK Car Forums - here's a link to the thread..

Overclockers UK Forums - Poor Scooby

If you would prefer I can ask the mods on that forum to lock / remove the thread and I'm sure the guys on here would do the same..alternatively I can ask on there if anyone has any info to let you know..

Cheers
Pete
