Default Quick question re fitting flaps

Hi, I need to fit my new mudflaps and front splitter this weekend and have a question. I need to drill a couple of holes in the bodywork and would like to know what product to apply to the newly drilled holes to stop them from rusting.
It says in the instructions to use waxoil or other product and not silicon based. How long would waxoil last? and does anyone know a better product and where to get it from?.

Cheers, Chris.

I used underbody sealant paint. This contains waxsol. Piled it on with a bruh before fitting the bracket and screwing into place. Most car shops sell the stuff. Its also flexible unlike Red Oxide so will cope with movement / vibration.

Use brushable seem seler under the plate, then use an under body underseal in abundance!

So are we saying that I should put some underseal where the mounting bracket meets the bodywork or will it be ok just to coat the bear metal where I have drilled the holes.

when i did mine i got a cotton wool bud and pushed underseal into the drilled hole, then covered the hole in it, then put some on the thread of the screw and finally when it was done up, slapped some more over the whole lot.

if it rusts now, good luck to it!

I have fitted the front pair (will do rear tomorrow) and used the same technique. The brackets are made of aluminum and don't match the rest of the car if you know what I'm getting at. Undecided whether to paint the brackets with underseal to let them blend in a bit. What do you think. Has anyone else done this, if so anyone got any pics.

Chris.
