is it ignorant that i was never offered this info apon coming to your country.... ignorance would be having being given the info and not reffering to it. you guys should hand out a booklet on all your strange customs and holidays when a forigner steps off the plane or something

What do mean nothing is open?
nearly every retail outlet is open with manic feejits rushing around to grab old stock/discontined/ex display alledged "bargains" and "discounted" items that they could buy off the net 5% cheaper anyway (unless a feejit floor worker put the wrong price on it...like a set of wharfdales I bought the once
). Me a cynic? Always! ![Razz](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/razz.gif)
However, interms of useful places, such as trying to find a garage to sort your car (unless your buying one...refer to above) or plumber to fix your heating, or you need to go to the bank, your screwed.

Well, it is a bank holiday ![Big Grin](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
You'd think that seeing most banks shut before 4:00pm everyday and lunch time on Sautrdays, that they already had enough "time off" - Especially seeing that the rest of the country works at least 9 til 5 (and more) plus sundays and lets the banks deal with their money and charges for the privilidge.
I love banks, me

I've been out today, and there is certainly plenty to go and do (but Scotland doesn't give the same reverance to Boxing Day, but try taking the 2nd of January off us and you'll have a fight).
The banks in Scotland also seem to close at 4.45pm (to allow time to cash up)
As for tipping for service - tip where the service has been good, and leave none where pathetic (as you really don't care - you shouldn't be back anyway). Never much more than 10% if service has been good though.
