Default A bit cheesed off

only had my scooby for a month and the clutch has gone, peed off, not really done many quick standing starts in it either, so its in the garage with it and now i'm back driving my 310 bhp volvo T5 that i have well and truly thrashed the nuts off ever since i bought it 20,000 miles ago, and has never put a foot wrong, so much for my new toy, i thought that these were supposed to be strong motors its a 95 jdm wrx long live the volvo

.......how many quick starts did the previous owner do before selling it I wonder .

Clutch is a wear item! It would be like me saying that scoobies are unreliable because the brake pads need replacing.

previous owner might have done a few more drag starts than you on the same clutch mate.

consumable item im affraid, you cant own a high performance 4wd car and not expect something to give when laying down 260 bhp in the last 11 years

Not many quick standing starts? What do you want from a used 12 year old multi owner car?

I've had one clutch replaced in one of my Imprezas (93 wrx) in over 9 years.

Cheers for the support fellow scooby owner, i'm sure you would be rolling round in uncontrollable fits of laughter if you paid out all of your savings on an impreza only to to 500 odd miles to now have an approx. £400 bill thats just so funny, i wont sell any of my cars T5 for motorways (much quicker in a straight line than my scooby)and the odd trip to spain and france, and scooby for hooning around in at the weekends( when its fixed that is

im not offering support
its always a good idea to see that the clutch is in good order when buying the car in the first place, funny but ive had 4 scoobies and the clutch aint gone in any of them
and if it had i certainly wouldnt be complaining that i need a new one.
if your going to buy a car like a subaru then you should be prepared to be shelling out now and again

Count yourself lucky. I bought a pretty tidy wagon a year and a half ago and since then I've rebuilt the engine and gearbox, replaced virtually every single electrical sensor, stuck four new tyres on it, new discs and pads all round, completely replaced the suspension etc etc.

I've EASILY spent more than the actual car cost me, in parts and labour this year. And I do most work on it myself as well. That's what you get for driving a fast car in the way it's meant to be driven. Stuff wears out.
