WRX MY93 in UK
#1
Hello all,
I recently invested in a Scooby WRX MY93 - and it's wonderful! Devestating performance and bags of grip though I haven't pushed it yet because I haven't had it long and don't want to write off my new pride and joy! Anyway - I have a question which I hope someone can answer - does anyone know where I can get some specs for my scooby? All I can find is 240PS in all the FAQs, but nothing else like 0-60, top whack, gear ratios, weight. fuel capacity etc. etc. I think the WRX ratios have remained the same if so I have this info from SIDC FAQ, but apart from that I have Jack S**T !
I am also after a bit of advice, I was wondering whether to use 95RON or 97RON - and should I re-set the ECU to re-set the timing after I've chosen which fuel I'm going to keep using. Power Engineering recommends super just because it's closest to Japan's 100RON stuff but I'm not convinced it's necessary - especially if you re-set the ECU which should make all necessary adjustments for it to run safely for that fuel (boost, ignition timing etc.).
cheers,
Alex.S.

Is it for sure that it can't retard enough for 95RON fuel? I've run it on 95 before with no pinking or the like
I thought it was just the STi that had probs with retarding, which melted the pistons! eek.
Maybe if I re-set the ECU with 95 in it should be ok?

Spence,
When running a lower Octane fuel the ECU will retard the ignition immediatly to prevent pre-ignition. Only time an ECU reset is required is when going to a high Octane furl as the ECU is very slow to react some times taking a few tank fulls.
Can't answer your 93 WRX specific questions as not up to speed with the imports, sorry.

well, not sure about about exactly how much retard the ECU has available, but I'd be very wary of running it on 95 in hard driving during the summer. If your concerned I'd make up a set of det cans and see if it is detting.

Thanks Lee nice one.
Paul - det cans sounds a bit complex! ?
Kev, it's a black one, L reg, allegedly got 90,000 kms on it so i dunno about 55K miles - it seems to run quite sweetly and smoothly, especially with 97 in.
