Default bulging tyre........gutted!

Whilst under my car re-fitting the diff guard/undertray i noticed a screw in my 17" rear toyo proxy tyre.
I took it to my local garage so they could have a look, possibly repair, but when the guy removed the wheel the inner sidewall had a nasty bulge, covering probably over half of the sidewall! Really soft bubbles.
Im now stuck with a silly little yellow spare wheel on until new ones arrive
Managed to source one for £65 off the net, i will get it fitted locally for £10 but it wont arrive till tuesday now, and i will need to source another as im sure you need to replace them in pairs??

What would cause this to happen to a tyre which is only around 6 months old? could it be where its run a little flat?

most likely your pressure was down and you drove on it then filled it back up without noticing the low pressure

Is it that easy to **** a 6 month old tyre though?
Ive never experienced this before in my 11+ years of driving.

yeah, don't drive mine much at the mo. picked it up and drove a few (10) motorway miles felt a bit odd but wasn't pressing on much.

pulled in at checked pressures and one rear was down quite a bit. re inflated it. a week later the wife and nipper had a blow out on the same wheel. fortunately both okay and managed to hold the car (gotta love all wheel drive) but stranded on M42/M5 interchange and very shook up!!

tyres are the only thing between you and a big accident so don't screw with them anymore 65 squid against a life. no contest

would under inflation also cause side walls to split? been reversing out of the drive lately and it felt as if you where hitting a large stone with the drivers wheel . inspected underneath and found nothing, as i was tightening the wheel nuts i noticed a 6' split along the side wall of p-zero nero . had been driving on the motorway the day before aswell.wont use the car now until new set of tyres arrives.

If it makes you feel any better I got a screw through my 2 day old, brand spanking new MY05 STI at the start of the year. Had a similar problem and had to replace the tyre - seriously annoying when the tyre looks brand new and the space saver really does look awful.
