I had an STi panel filter in which was pretty good. Put in a Green/TSL Group N panel filter and it's definitely flowing a lot better and sounds a bit more meaty even though it's an enclosed panel filter.

Green, JR Racing or K&N for the filter. Don't bother with an induction kit as they rarely give any benefit unless you're in big power territiory and provide a good cold air feed.

STi up-pipe doesn't have a cat (IIRC) so you should just need a down-pipe, and if you want to pass MOT's you'll need one with a 100 cell sports cat. You'll also need a decat'd centre, which can also be deresonated (no boxes, just a pipe). I'll let others suggest makes. You will also need to consider a remap to get the best out of your investments and protect the engine, so budget another £5-600 for that.

Agree, no point with an induction kit, just a panel filter's fine... and an economy saving measure too, being washable. To consider - my insurers took £30 off me for bunging a K&N in. Also - the K&N was an absolute bugger to fit - the lip round the top's a bit fat, and getting the cover on the airbox again involved half hour of swearing and skinned knuckles. Anyone else have that with the same filter? And yes, it was the right part number....
