I had same problem with my old STi V3 - found a local MOT station that would 'put one on' to past the test - cost around an extra £30. That was in Kent - don't know where you are?

It would help if you gave a location. There's lots of us on here with the same problem. I have a full standard exhaust for this if required.

Get a standard centre pipe from a WRX, not STi as it's a resonator. Should pass fine. Mine always does.

All Classics have a resonator in the centre. The catalytic converter is in the downpipe.

Not the UK turbo's. They have a catted centre section.

Try subaru impreza parts from scoobyworld, suppliers of high performance products for your Subaru and have a look at their sports cat downpipe. That is only £300 and won't cost you to much in performance. Then sell your decat downpipe for say £100, job done for £200. (if you fit it yourself)
That is what I plan to do when my MOT is due.

Eh? I've a 96 full decat and it passes the mot. Is that because it's an import?

You said 'get a centre pipe from a WRX'. WRXs do not have a centre cat.

I've a decatted STi V3 - bought a standard UK model centre section with cat off here for £10 and fit it for the MOT. 20 min job to change (stainless bolts/nuts) and it passes the emissions test no problem.

You'll easy pick up one on ebay.
