Not necessarily as it will be directing air down towards the turbo and inlet manifold. I'm sure that if it didn't serve some kind of purpose it would be removed.

Air goes thru the front grills, up thru the intercooler and out the 'backward' looking scoop towards the front of the bonnet....... ie. air goes up thru it and not down as on 'conventional' subarus.

Scoop is only really there so it looks like an impreza I think; I'm sure ideally they'd ditch it altogether (but the marketing types won't let them!).

From the photos it looks like Welch's at Great Shelford ??
They have just been reinstated as the SUBARU main Dealer for Cambridge.
Been the service agent for a long time. I bought my car and have it serviced there. Great people, especially Justin May in sales.
Superb photos'. How long have they got the WRC car for ??

I'm sure the rules state that the car has to look very similar to the production version. Don't think it would without the scoop!

Pity they don't apply that to the thinly disguised prototype 4wd cars that Ford, Peugeot and Citroen are allowed to enter.

You'd be forgiven for thinking that anyway based on the 2006 WRC results

this is correct. marketing types want the scoop, to relate to the road cars.
the 05 car had a front mount (and some of the previous WRC cars)

I love or "like" everthing about my 06 STi except for those gaggingly horrid lexus lights
If I'd have wanted to Shout at the Car behind me "YooHooo I'm only slightly Gay" or "I'm Chav so **** off, unless your Gay" I would have bought some and had them fitted. Spoilt a good car IMHO
BTW The Car is nice Prodrive certainly now how to make an Engine bay nice
does the wheelbase look shorter or is that my eyes playing up, the new season mod maybe
